New Zealand delisle carbine transfer: Can it be done?

Here's the story. My father's friend of 30 years married a woman from New Zealand. As many of you know, you can buy silencers over the counter over there. He has his eyes on a Delisle .22 LR rifle that he can buy for around $430. He would love to have it shipped to the US. That's where I fall into this, he wanted me to find out how he could do this.

I'm thinking, if it's a silenced weapon, you need the NFA clearance. I think that's what, $200 in itself? But if this weapon's silencer is intergral to the weapon, can it still be done? What are the processes required to transport a normal gun country-to-country? Would it be really different for something like the Delisle?

Sorry, the 1968 Gun Control Act banned the importation of NFA weapons for civilian use. Another stupid law that needs to be repealed.

Domestic manufacture for civilian use is still permitted (except for machineguns).

Yes, but that one also costs 1.6k and needs a class III to purchse one with an actual silencer. Way out of this guy's range, and he wanted a .22 LR version. Thanks, though.

Isn't Valkyrie Arms just Hesse under another name?

He wouldn't need a license from BATFE, but he would need to file a Form 4 and pay a $200 transfer tax. There are a number of manufacturers producing suppressed .22's if he wants one.

I think it's Vulcan and Hesse that go together.

Alright, I'll do some research and see what I can come up with. However, I highly doubt that he can afford buying one in America.
