Hello everyone,

Brand spakin' new to this forum but I like what I see so far. Had some rifle questions that lead me here for answers and I've seemed to wander to handgun land :D

Just checking in and introducing myself here, nothing big. I've been a fan of Sig handguns for quite some time now and currently use a P239 in 40. Personaly I think it is the finest handgun I've ever owned. Only complaint is the small capacity but that doesn't bug me too bad.

Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the 239 and Sig in general.

Never had any experience with the 220 but if the performance of their other products says anything I'm sure it's lovely. I started off with the 229 years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. The only thing that erk'd me about the 229 was the frame...it was a bit too large for my hand. I had trouble reaching all of the levers with the one hand. The 239's frame feels like it was sculpted for me.

I didn't know there was a Sig vs. Glock thing going on here lol I guess I figured it would be a Sig vs. HK thing

SIGs are garbage. Really they are overpriced for what you get and have lots of quality problems. Go get yourself a Glock and be done with it.

God I can't even say that with a straight face. :neener: :D

You will find I am one of the forum's resident SIG-O-PHILEs. I love em. Have six myself. The P239 is one of the best carry autos I have ever seen. SIGs in general have been the most reliable handguns I have ever experienced. Shoot with confidence and learn to put those "few" rounds where they count. I don't feel undergunned with my P239 .40.

Welcome to the forum. Coffee and bathroom is in the back.

Hey CSlinger...

What do you think of the .357Sig? I've read the ballistics on it and I know it's just a 9mil in a 40 shell but I've never actually shot it. Your opinion on it would be appreciated.

I am kind of in the it's fun but I don't use it for SD camp. It barks pretty loudly and has quite a bit of flash but I don't find that it recoils very badly at all.

Basically I find it very fun but shoot it little due to cost and availability. I am sure it would make a dandy self defense round but I tend to stick to my more mainstream 9x19, .40 or .45s for that purpose.

First of all: Welcome!
Second of all, way to go, rgs1975!
We got your Glocks are ugly plastic, SIGs are over-priced garbage, 1911's are jam-o-matics, all that is missing now is the .45 versus .40 versus 10mm versus 9mm flame wars...
Good to light 'em up!

i just need to get me a 45, a 10mm so i can debate which is better.. Other than that I would just see what i like myself. I have taken advice from people around here especially w/ the sig. I love the glock, nice reliable, dont have to clean it.. but I really didnt like the grip angle.. other than that I probably will end up getting a glock just to have one.. prolly the baby poo colored one.. lol

I cannot vouch for the sig you have.. but I would imagine that its a straight shooter.. and has just enough parts in it so its not a hassle to field strip. So its probably a really good pistol.

I don't own a Sig... but I do think very highly of them. Pull up a chair and I'll tell you about my Sig saga...

I got a call from a buddy about a year and a half ago. A shop he frequented had a Sig 245, used, at a really good price. Factory reburbed and night sights. Came with two holsters, extra magazines, Hogue slip-on grip, perfect condition! I called the shop, 1.5 hours away from where I worked, and it was still there.

Two days later I drive out with a big grin on my face: I'm gonna get me a Sig!

Nope, it was sold. A regular customer put it on lay-away the day before I got there. Worse: He showed up while I was there to pick up his new gun! He let me fondle it, and I confirmed what he already knew: I'd have bought the thing if he didn't. I snagged a CZ-RAMI in .40S&W while I was there, so it was all good.

About 6 months later the shop is closing down, so I venture out there with the same buddy that gave me the original call about that Sig 245 at that shop to help clean out some inventory. We get there and I notice he's not looking around at much, just helping me find stuff to buy. I ask him what he's getting, and he's tight lipped about it. The owner gets a gun from the back for him, that he had reserved, and what is it? The SAME Sig 245! The guy I saw buy it last time had to sell it back to the shop, for some unfortunate reason, and there it was, and my buddy was buying it. I called him some names, jokingly, that Art's Grammaw would blush at.

I still call him bad things anytime I find he's carrying that bugger. :)
