I am waiting 10 days to pickup my new TLE, I hope this is in the right spot to talk about gear? anyway I hope you all will be able to help me with some equipment questions. I have used one holster which rode high, the top of the butt of the Glock was three inches or so above my elbow and did not feelcomfortable, this is one area I have not seen discussed. Do you prefer your holster to ride high or low, couldn't be too low or it would be hard to conceal ?
Thanks Bill

If you are going to shoot it in IDPA I suggest a good kydex belt or paddle holster. My personal preference is for Blade-tech, but most other manufactuers will do. I would avoid the Fobus ones however. The bladetech allows you to adjust the holster to your shooting style. You can adjust both height and cant. I shoot with a lower height (about level or a little above waist line) with a FBI cant. Another advantage is if you are shooting in the rain or it starts raining, it won't hurt the kydex. And lastly a good kydex is easier on your gun's finish than a leather holster.

2 questions:

Are you shooting your carry gun or are you shooting to win?

A typical carry holster is used often enough in IDPA, but there are people who will hunt high and low for the absoulte fastest IDPA legal holster that conceals the firearm withinn rules.

I've tried several Glock holsters and I've found a friends Sidearmor OWB modular to be fast. On my To-Check-Out list is the Sooper Hooper from Kytac, which Dave Sevigny uses for his G34. I'm buddies with B Coyote at GT and he's used his and concluded that it is one of the fastest drawing rigs available.

For the basics and just getting started, theres nothing wrong with a blade tech or fobus. I believe in graduating your gear with your skill level. If you can get your draw down to 2.00 and shoot the classifier MM, then when you get to SS, congratulate yourself by going holster shopping.

Thats my .02.
