News Channel comparisons...

I think it's healthier for me to listen to people with opinions that I don't agree with. -'Card

But it is not healthy, certainly not productive, to try to reason with them.

I quit watching TV a while back, but as I remember it, Fox is as far to the right right as CNN is to the left. Can't believe either one.

I find Fox a bit more believable and devoid of the bias so clearly represented by CNN but I guess I share your overall sentiment... I watched the CNN show last week, "The Lou Dobbs Report," and the entire show was a hatchet job on the Bush Administration... he made no bones about it either... no pretense at all from Lou...complete liberal bias... However, there are conservative bias shows on Fox so perhaps it does balance out? I don't watch network news at all (NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.)... far too biased...

I don't watch much TV to get news: Every day I read The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Times. Keeps me informed; business and politics...Indeed The Washington Times often has gun related articles which I find interesting...

Forget about the "shows." Commentary is entertainment.

Compare the "news" portion of each. This is the part that is presented as (and alleged to be) being unbiased.

I watch Fox most of the time and I believe less then 50% of what they
say, in fact I view most of it as entertainment. The so called experts
are funny bcause they apppear to have very little experience in the real world.
They do have some very good looking women.:D

There are subtle things that can sneak by you. For example, is it spying or is it surveillance? One word is pretty negative, including a judgment.

Another is treating a tempest in a teapot like the story of the year, beating it to death. Are they digging the dirt or reporting the facts? Is the message "ain't it awful?" or is it an expose of facts being used out of context (lies). Is it a pile on or an attempt to be objective and balanced?

IF, I have to watch national news it's Fox. In my household I've changed CNN to DNN, the Democratic News Network.

I prefer to keep it CNN, Communist News Network:D . And apparently most agree, Fox has cleaned house on the other networks and regularly beats the rest of them combined. BTW just heard that AIRhead America is about to go kapoot, another win for the good guys!;)

Air America has been about to go Kaput since it's inception. I'll believe it when it happens. If it wasn't for Franken, tho, I think it'd be dead. Randy Rhodes sure as hell isn't helping the image of Liberals out there.

It's a shame, Air America is just as unlistenable as most of their conservative counterparts, like Hannity, Bill O'Rilley, etc, but it was a nice idea.

Now, I have Sirius Satellite Radio, and strangely enough, their liberal political programming is better than Air America. (Like that's an accomplishment.) I enjoy listening to people like Ed Schultz, and The Young Turks.

As far as other news programs running "Hatchet Jobs" on the current administration, well, I really can't blame them. There's plenty of stuff to chop at, like the FEMA mess, Cheney's Halliburton connections to Iran, the mishandling of intelligence leading to the Iraq war, the upcoming civil war in Iraq, the huge amount of money the war cost, the social security drug benifit lies, et cetera...

Then again, the Liberals have Hillary Clinton. God help them.

Actually if it wasn't for the money shoveling socialists like George Soros and Peter Lewis, Air "down with" America would have died it's much needed death a lot quicker. What do expect when a bunch of Socialists try their hand in a Capitalistic market:D .

My own take on the impending demise of Air America has to do with market saturation.

The reason Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, and the Fox network have done well and continue to do so is the absence of competition for conservative listeners. Anyone who's been paying attention knows of the leftward bias in ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC, making for a dearth of rightward-tilted (or even centrist) programming.

No competition for conservative/middle-of-the-road listeners.

On the other hand, Air America, which is unabashadly liberal, has to compete with not only the "big" networks, but most newspapers, too. THEY HAVE COMPETITION - AND LOTS OF IT!!

Creating a "liberal" talk radio show makes about as much business sense as building a small discount store on a vacant lot between Wal-Mart and K-Mart, when there's a Target and Costco right across the street.
