I put together a small web site that, I believe, contains all of the press coverage that the rally at the capitol received.

Please take a look. It's quite an interesting look at how different organs cover -- or don't cover -- the same event.

I have video captures, but need a place to host them. The two files are 300K and 1.8MB.

A small sample...

Thanks Matt !

As a MNs'ton I have seen the worst of our state come out against the personal protection act. Our news media did all they could to prevent the passage of this bill and are doing all they can to keep it in the news as an issue. I've witnessed their reporters doing illegal acts as part of their past attempts to kill the personal protection act.
I expect them to continue their campain of mistruths in an attempt to repeal it as well.

Along with the DFL'rs who for some reason have adopted an anti- 2nd amendment , anti-firearm stance nation wide. A political party who I am ashamed to have once been alined with. A political party who's elected members swear to uphold the constitution and then work against it. A political party who has lost its integrity.

As for the religious sector who enjoy tax free status, and seperation of church and state (which they should practice) - they have no business in politics or in political issues using the god is on their side mentality. More people have died as a result of religous conflict , and in the name of god than for any other reason I can think of.

Hey, that's me at the left of the third image, in the purple shirt, with the camera in front of my face!

(My photos are up, incidentally, here )

You know after reading those articles on the B-Day party have me upset at the utter stupidity of the anti's who showed up. As you can see not only was there hardly any of them but they also had not a single valid point. Like that one guy who said that a CCW holder will have a bad day and start shooting kids in the park. Give me a #%$&in break, that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Like it's not possible for any whako to flip out and start shooting kids in the park. Then you have that one minister Oliver White who turns it into a racial thing, thinking that CCW holders want to shoot all black people because they look the same. All he did was make it obvious that a higher education or common sense is not required to become clergy. Why is it that some people can always find a way to turn something racist. That just blows me away. I am however proud at our supporters who seemed to have a good time and not let the anti's have the time of day (what they really wanted) and cause a peaceful celibration into something ugly. Oh ya lets look at the anti's one other argument that because of enacting a CCW law thier are 17,000 more guns. Um ok whatever like just because you give people a piece of paper these guns magicly appear or do they issue new firearms with each lisence. Do they not realive that these proud new CCW holders for the most part already owned these guns, and how does someone having a CCW make it easyer for a family member of a gun owner to use it to commit suicide. This is purly retardid and pety on thier behalf to try and come up with such lies.:banghead: :fire: They also hurried up to come up with these lies so that they can ralley against a law that has already been faught and granted to the people when all they were doing was trying to hold a celebration of thier freedoms and rights that they had to fight for even though they should have not had to fight. These anti's just never give up trying to take away our constitutionsl rights do they. Well I say to them keep trying and as long as you do me and my RKBA brothers will be standing here firmly holding on to our freedoms.:neener:

Hey! I'm in dd-b's pix!
after listening to the inflamed rhetoric of the anti's, it's a wonder we managed to hold a rally without all shooting each other. :scrutiny:

Heehee.

Actually, the longer TV coverage, from Channel 5, did a pretty good job. I'd give them a B.

WCCO's coverage was just a few seconds and made no sense. D.

The Star Tribune disappointed me. The reporter is quite good and usually intellectually honest. This time, though, he couldn't resist inflammatory words like "packing heat." They get a C.

The Pioneer Press did quite well. A.

Minnesota Public Radio could have used their considerable brains a little more, instead of just parroting what the two sides said. C.

If MPR gets a C they must have really had a change in staff. I would have bet they would get a F- from past times I have listened to them.

Looked like a fun rally. Here in PA, we've had civilized CCW laws for a while. Looking at the photos, seems there were a few cute ladies over on the anti side. Wouldn't have minded talking to them for a while. Solely in the interest in getting the truth out, of course.

I can host the files on my server if ya want. I keep the traffic limited to 3G per day, but if the larger file is only 1.8M there shouldn't be too much of a problem hopefully. PM or email me at my username at my username dot net. (Just tryin to keep the spam low)

If you can't get a hold of RevDisk I can host them too... if for some reason the bandwidth becomes insane, oh well -- I'll just pay the bill :)

FYI: It's just a server on a static DSL line in my apartment. 768k up and down. Nothing hefty, but hey, free is free.

jbuist -at- justinbuist -dot- org is the email address. I can setup an FTP site for you.

"Cute" may be a look, but "beautiful" is a mindset. And I think we ought to sue ugly people for having cute faces. They are so misleading, and waste our time and effort. Nothing more disappointing than talking to a cute girl and finding out that she's an authoritarian pretending to be a decent human.

Yep, and what's more, I've got a hunch the sun's going to rise in the east tomorrow morning, too.

Fortunately, the evidence on CCW after nearly twenty years is that a.) it does less harm than arming cops, and b.) it appears to do some good. The anti-Second Amendment bigots are going to have an extremely tough time repealing CCW and shall issue laws in the face of the evidence.

If MPR gets a C they must have really had a change in staff. I would have bet they would get a F- from past times I have listened to them.
The quality of MPR's programming, especially their news reporting, has deteriorated so much in recent years, that they are not worth listening to anymore.

Someone got a picture of me and Bear.

He's the cute little JRT pup - I'm in the dark shirt and sunglasses.

We're the epitome of the lunatic gun nut...

Bzzzt! The 3rd Reich killed six million. That good disciple of Marx, ol' Joe Stalin, managed to execute 10 million or so. Governments have been the great killers in human history. Always have been and probably always will be.

Keep in mind that Judaism is a religion . I'm not at all sure the German Nazi government would have did the same to groups of Catholics .

Religion is regularly a part of the eithnic differences between people , and a regular source of justification for viewing others as something undesirable.

Anyhow - this is probably the wrong thread to get into more discussion on that particular issue . I hear what you said and your point is well taken .
