Yes, I know we in Illinois havent been doing well when electing Governors and I am not impressed with the Republican leader. That would be Judy Topinka our current Treasurer. I have been trying to do a little research on her stance on guns, she has had nothing on her web site. I contacted her campaign and asked about her position on gun ownership in general and specificly about the currently proposed AWB and CCW in Illinois.
I finally got an email and I am not impressed with the reply, no mention was made to the AWB or CCW, and notice the wording about her support for 2nd Amendment rights. She apparently only respects our right to "bear arms."
The email is just as I recieved it, no alterations.

Jim:

Last week, you inquired about Judy Baar Topinka’s stance on gun issues. We wanted to let you know that Judy is a supporter of your 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and has been endorsed by the NRA every time she has run for public office.

Thank you,

Josh Potts

Topinka for Governor

I still have to check about the claim of NRA endorsements and I will get back after I find out some more on that.
Bill Brady is the only republican for Gov. that is actively seeking gun owners votes, and has stated he will sign CCW if elected. I think this is where we need to start turning this state around, by at least getting a real pro gun Republican to run against Blago. Jim.

I believe that Topinka would sign HB2414 or it's successor if it reached her desk. I think she is as big an anti gunner as her mentor George Ryan.

Glenn Poshard, had he been elected would have been the only true pro-gun governor in my lifetime.

I don't believe the state republican party cares one whit about guns. And I say that as a republican committeeman. Guns is in individual issue in Illinois politics. If it wasn't for the Southern Illinois Democrats, we'd have no RKBA in this state.

In Illinois you have to look past party affiliation to the individual candidate.

I don’t live in Illinois, but I follow the political scene as close as I can. I like what I have read about Jim Oberweis. He has been demonized a few times by the leftists, which is a plus in my book, and has stated on his web site that he would encourage the legislature to draft concealed carry laws which he, in turn, would gladly sign. I don’t think he has a chance in Illinois, but he is your man if you want your second amendment rights preserved.

I'm in favor of Jim Oberweis also. Not only for his 2A stance but for the simple fact that he has the nads to publicly stand up to illegal immigration. Then when he does he gets labeled a "racist". Then it's easy to tell who is in favor of illegal immigration. Then I keep track of who those people are or aren't, then I research their stance on 2A. Thats how I decide.

Jeff I believe your right. We need a pro gun legislature in Illinois though.
sctman800, with an e-mail as lame as that she's not in favor of 2A rights. She's just saying that to play both sides of the fence(politics).

Not to stray off target too far...

Blago got dupped into an interview with the Daily Show and it really is funny.

It is about the "morning after pill" law he signed forcing pharmicists to fill prescriptions for the pill against their will.

Leaving that subject aside, the video shows our boy governor being made into a fool.
