What do you get for range duty after you have a Sig 226 (.40) and a 3.5" 27-2 (.357).

Guns for concealed carry are not an option.

Part of the equation is my adult daughter (i.e. small hands) enjoys shooting.

Definitely a 22lr.

I'm sure you know this but it would be best to let your daughter handle as many as possible. My wife has very small hands and ended up choosing a Ruger Mk II with the 6 inch bull barrel. She preferred it to other autos and all the revolvers. The Kadet 22 adapter for her CZ 75b is a close second. (So much for what I know. I thought she would go for a short barreled Single-Six or smaller Smith and Wesson double action.)

Have fun with your search.

Jeff

(IMO) A Kimber Custom, 45acp with a Kimber 22LR conversion.

To fill out your collection after the Kimber would be a nice 9mm maybe a CZ75 or Browning High Power.

Then you would have all the basis covered.

Missing a 9 mil and a 22 ( In my opinion)

A good 22 or a 9 milimeter.. With small hands I'd recommend a Ruger semi-auto 22 Mk 11 or 2245....OR----A single action 22/22mag

For small hands with a 9 milimeter I'd recommend a single stack made by Sig..(P6,225,239) or Kahr (T-9 K-9) or a 1911 style by Springfield or Taurus....Or any other well made single stack 9..

if she handles the 226 well enough, why not get her a full sized pistol? A 9mm would be a good next addition.

What is a good .22?

Well considering your current affliction with S&W's I'd have to say a nice Model 17.

Just don't get attached to it. You're daughter is very likely to abscond with it.
Or you could get a 14 (.38) and the 17 (.22)

That way it's just a hop, skip, and a jump back to that good lookin' 27.

If you're wanting a 22 pistol...the ruger MKI, MKII, or 22/45 models are the way to go. However if you want a gun that requires you to do all sorts of crazy stuff to break it down including inserting the magazine and pulling the trigger then removing the magazine then doing something else etc...................the MKIII is your gun. It also has a mag disconnect safety which could be annoying. lol.....the moral of that rant was get either a MKII or a 22/45. Or a browning buckmark. those are exceptionally well made pistols.

just my 2cts

Forget the Rugers, brand new and "stuff keeps falling off" of them, namely the sights. Go to the Ruger forums and see for yourself. Go with the Browning Buckmark. That's a hellofa .22 pistol.

Brand new? The standard model was introduced in 1949; they haven't changed all that much since then. I'd say they're fairly well established.

Aside from an older Smith&Wesson .22 revolver, I think a Browning Buckmark outshines the Ruger .22's by far.

I'd say a good solid 1911. Look at a Springfield Loaded, Dan Wesson Valor, or Colt Combat Elite. Any of these will be compatible with most .22 LR conversion top ends out there.

:D Go all out! It's your daughter! Get here one of them .500 Smitty's that make a big BOOM !!
