NFA rules for dumbies ?

Does anyone publish a pamplet or book that walks one thru the process of applying for an NFA tax stamp ? (Full auto, SBS, SBR, Silencer, etc)

I always see a number of questions regarding this subject and persons pionting out different aspects of the law, but where can one find a simple to read step by step of the process ?
Yes, I know that each state has there own listing of what you can and can not have . What I am looking for is NFA 101 information that walks a person thru the process. What forms, how to fill out the forms, what comes first , and last and every thing in between. Published into a step by step do this, then that, then next.

Your going to get quite a few different answers that all arrived at the same conclusion.

There's nothing exceedingly complicated about it at the federal level.

Which form you need: Form 4 if buying an NFA item, form 1 to make an NFA item (which includes assembling from parts, even if you don't actually make anything).

Form must be printed front & back, not two sheets.

Be sure to dot your i's and cross you t's. Double check that everything is right, then check again. When you're done, check it one more time.

If applying as an individual, you'll have to get CLEO sign off and FBI fingerprint form done in duplicate. Trust bypasses this step.

Write check (or get money order or cashier's check) for $200, put it in the envelope with your form 1/4 and the 2 copies of fingerprint card, then mail it to the NFA branch.

There's another path too. Find a seller who's licensed to sell, and he will most likely be willing to walk you, hand in hand, through the process. It's not terribly difficult to understand.

Thanks for the input so far. It appears that there is no published step by step data, or how to, book. One just has to pick up bits and pieces from where ever and make it work.
