So I've been eyeing this rifle for awhile. It's a brand new 700 Youth .243. There are no "SPS" markings on it anywhere. It just says "Rem 700 Youth". It is black synthetic stock, black barrel, and comes with mounts and a scope. The scope means nothing to me. I have a brand new Nikon waiting for it, if I decide to buy. I cannot find this rifle/scope combo on Buds anywhere. The 700 SPS Youth on Buds, without scope, is $557.00 The price tag on the one I'm eyeing $424.00. Am I missing something OTHER than a bargain?

look to see if its got a floor plate. An sps will. What you probably have there is an adl. Walmart sold them for around that price with a cheap scope of them. Heck of a deal really. Ive seen bare actions go for that much on line.

Yes it has a floor plate. I thought all ADL's had irons. But maybe I'm wrong. This one doesn't. I just find it hard to believe it's $133 cheaper than Buds. I know Buds isnt the "end all" for gun sales. But $133 is a chunk.

Not always; buds prices are sometimes higher for certain brands of rifles - browning rifles come to mind.

I'd buy that rifle from the shop. A good deal is a good deal.

I bought a 700 Youth from Wal-Mart for around $425 (I think it was $416 + Tax) about a year ago. It came with a 3-9x scope. It had a cheaper version of the x-mark that was not adjustable. I can't really comment on quality because I didn't shoot it as it came from the factory.

ADL means it has a blind magazine. BDL has a floorplate. DBM has a detachable box magazine. No more, no less. The SPS and CDL are both versions of a BDL since they have a floorplate. There have been every variation imaginable of all 3.

$425 seems like a good price. I know a few guys who bought those to get the carbine length barrel re[stocked them in McMillans and had some custom work done. They turned out nice.

Ok thanks guys. I looked again. I was mistaken. It does not have a floor plate. So it's an ADL. But I think I've got my answer. I appreciate the help.
