Hey guys...forgive my ignorance, but there are just so many options out there, I'm not exactly sure what my best options for the money are.

I'm picking up a rem 700 sps in 7mm rem mag. I'm planning on purchasing a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12 x 50 AO (with dead hold BDC reticle). I haven't had a 50mm bell before and I've never owned a rem 700.

I need to know what guys would recommend for mounting this scope to the rem 700 (base and rings). This is going to be a general use/hunting rifle. I'll probably be shooting out to maybe 400-500 yards (just target shooting at this range). What do you guys recommend that will be tall enough for that 50mm bell and strong enough to put up with the 7mm rem mag recoil. Any bolt handle clearance issues that you foresee with this scope? My budget for base and rings is only $50 - $75.

Thanks in advance guys!

Forget about anything with a 50mm objective. There are many 3-9X40's out there that are much better scopes for less money.

The only 2 mounting systems I'll use anymore are DNZ or Talley Lightweights. Since there is no separate base and ring they are much stronger. Much lighter, much cheaper, and much easier to mount. Buy a 40mm scope and mount it in low rings even if you choose another mounting system.

^^I do like the DNZ one piece base and ring setup. That seems like it would be very easy to install and maybe keep me from needing to do any lapping on the rings.

If you want to recommend a different scope option, I am open to that. I only want to put $200ish into the scope and one of my priorities (and why I had picked that crossfireII) is that I want 4" of eye relief. I'm not set on 50mm or 40mm, but I would like something with a little more than 9x magnification. Do you have any recommendations that meet those criteria?
