Hiya guys :) .

I just closed escrow on a two for one $/trade deal for a Hatsan escort MP2 12 gauge that I had. I traded it for 2 nice vintage 22's, one of which is this nice Springfield Stevens model 87A clickety clack "Gill" gun from Stevens Savage of Chicopee, MA. :) .

I already have a pair of Steven Savage 87A's, so now I guess I officially have triplets in a way even though this is a slightly different variation from your standard 87A.

After comparing this side by side with one of my other 87's I noticed a few differences. This Springfield model is 1" shorter in overall length and I'm thinking it's probably in the barrel and not so much in the stock but I'll check that later. This has a hooded front sight instead of the standard front blade, The Styling of the stock is a little bit different and I think a little bit nicer then the standard stock and the barrel is stamped that it's chambered for the 22 long rifle smokeless cartridge only unlike my other 87's that say they're chambered for the 22l & 22LR in auto mode and the 22 short in single-shot mode only, although the actions are identical and both have locking breaches for the single shot mode.

Overall this Springfield bottle is in pretty nice shape given the way it looks. The bluing on the magazine tube is a little worn in places and it could use a little Emery cloth to clean it up before being reblued, but the bluing on the barrel and the receiver still look pretty nice, and the finish on the stock is well worn and somewhat splotchy but other than that the magazine tube and the stock aren't pitted scored or startup so it's a perfect candidate for a little touch up work on the bluing and for the stock to be refinished. After that this thing should look really nice much like the last 87A I picked up :) ...
