NICS operations during a government shutdown.....

Steel Horse Rider So you are smugly stating that all states that supposedly do the checks "in house" are actually merely accessing the federal database through their agents rather than actually doing the checks themselves as they advertise?

In house? Seriously?

You think Colorado or any other state is going to have their own database and not access anything Federal? That's just plain ignorance man.

A full, complete explanation of how background checks are run is right there on the FBI NICS website for ANYONE TO READ. If you would dismount for a few minutes and actually read about the FBI NICS/Brady law you would know I'm not being smug at all.

As InkEd posted above concerning Tennessee and Cryogaijin posted about Oregon, Colorado claims that the Colorado Bureau of Investigation conducts the background checks here. In fact, part of the gun legislation concerning face to face transactions that was passed last legislative session added a fee for funding purposes.
Who said otherwise?
Do you know what a state POC is?

Start here:http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/nics/nics

Federal NICS for Long Guns and Handguns in Kentucky. However Kentucky conducts monthly NICS on everyone who has a CDWL (Concealed Deadly Weapon License).

I do know that Colorado instituted the in state system because the federal system did not keep up to date on spousal abuse and mental problems. Colorado does not seem to do a much better job though. I am glad that I don't have to do business with you or socialize with you because you act as if you are a boor. I am merely trying to keep myself and others informed without burdening those who know it all.

without burdening those who know it all.

Steel Horse Rider - Since the NICS is open and this thread is now moot, maybe the administrators will close this thread before doghousetom gets up this morning and crows about your reference that he is a know it all!

Actually, I wish there were more laypersons like tom on juries since he thinks plaintiff's lawyers will unilaterally dismiss lawsuits. That would be great for civil defendants!

Sorry if you guys got butthurt.
I've never claimed to "know it all".......I DO claim to have taken the time to read. Nothing I've posted is secret insider information. And is well known by the FFL's who visit this website (and have posted in this thread)

Despite several requests for some of you to read for yourself, you choose instead to attack the messenger. So be it.

I've never said anything of the sort. Your reading comprehension is lacking.
