NICS put my gun buy on hold today

DF357, in MA we don't have NICS after getting an FID (like a FOID) or an LTC/CCW.

Then I wonder who my FLGS is calling whenever I buy I firearm. It sure sounds like a NICS check to me.

Weird. I've never been checked, though I've only bought two firearms...

Could've sworn this was one of the very few upsides to MA licenses.

In PA, we use PICS, which as has been mentioned is used to build a "registry of gun purchases." The state supreme court has, iirc, ruled this to be legal because it "tracks purchases and not people." Mumble.

I'm always kicked out for manual review, but I'm always approved.

In WV we're not subject to such foolishness except when buying a handgun from an FFL.

There is no finger printing in MN for the CHL. That perhaps is one reason we do not enjoy a lot of reciprocity?

I'm not really sure of all the ins and outs of reciprocity. I think that most states require that reciprocal state's be at least as restrictive as their own. And some will recognize any state that recognizes them.

"In WV we're not subject to such foolishness except when buying a handgun from an FFL."

In WV, the NICS check is required on all firearm purchases from an FFL.

It's all in who your buying from!! :p Just gotta have em call back and be nicer! :neener:

Seems that I ALWAYS get delayed... Cept the last time, just a few weeks ago!

I mentioned it to Bob when he was dialing the NICS call. He said how he would try and sweet talk them into it .. From the second he got on the phone he was pourin it on like a single guy at a bar! Well by golly it must have worked. The check did come back "delayed", but the NICS gal took the extra step and ran the info on me right there, since he was so sweet to her!

Plainfield Shooting Supply (Bob Cheek) is an excelent vendor in my book!

I do wish they would alllow Indana CCW holders to do an instant check like most other states. It would sure save me some return trip gas!

Firearm purchase delays....

Here in the good old state of Georgia if you have a concealed carry permit you are good to go.

Walk in the store, whatever, pick out the firearm of your choice, fill out the registration form, pays your money, and drive on.

Lovely system.

JP :D

Old thread sorry!
but I have bought several guns through the same dealer.
Well I was at an auction and was apparently denied according to the sales girl. I bought 2 guns at a somewhat low price (Winchester 1400 16 ga. $150 & Remington 1100 12 ga $200)
They resold the guns and both ended up bringing $50 more on the second go around. I think she just lied. The next time I bought a gun I was put on hold. So then I thought I probably was put on hold and she lied because all firearms had to be removed from the property that day.

I agree with the second amendment, so what happened to it????

I'm not feeling sorry for people that get a delay, I get them all the time.

Remember NICS has 3 business days to call back with a verdict or the gun is yours.

I noticed that they removed the SSN section on the form here in TX. I noticed it on my recent purchase 3 weeks ago.
