I have a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 G.I. Mil Spec Stainless Steel with the G.I. Sights. I was just wondering if anybody knows if the front sight can be replaced? Also, does anybody know of any night sights that will work on this gun? Thanks in advance for the help!

It certainly can be, but I doubt you have the tools or ability to do it.

I too have the GI stainless. For some reason, it came with nicer wood grips than most. It has several boxes of ammo through it without issue. It has been 100% reliable so far. My main problem is the sights.
I emailed with Springfield. I can upgrade the sights to mil-spec for $65, or novak low-profile night sights for $260. (both also require $25 for shipment back).
Has anyone out there had night sights installed on their gi stainless?
Were they happy with appearance?
I have also thought I could probably simply trade with the local dealer for a loaded model for $400 or so...
