Picked up a Glock 26 gen 4 as my new CCW piece, and I want to put on some night sights to replace the standard factory sights. I've been looking at 3 different sets and have a couple questions. The sights I've been looking at are: Glock factory night sights, Trijicon 3 dot front and rear night sights (GL01), and Trijicon 3 dot front with Novak rear night sights (GL11). What I'm curious about is 3 dot front and rear vs 3 dot front with Novak rear. What are the advantages/disadvantages of both systems? I've never shot a pistol with Novak rear sights before. Also, if there isn't a real advantage to Novak rear sights, are the Trijicon 3 dot front and rear worth the extra money over the Glock factory night sights? Thanks!

I've used plenty of Trijicons, Meps, Ameriglo, etc. night sights. I have not owned any Novaks in all these years. I really think the only difference is the price and the aesthetics. Novaks look like they are a larger footprint, but that doesn't look like it'll affect anything at all. Maybe a bit easier to rack the slide on a belt, holster, or object if needed, but my standard 3-dot worked fine in those situations. The standard 3-dot system is tried and true. There are different variations and styles (dots, bars, photoluminescent paint, rings, no dots, etc.).
I think the Glock factory night sights were Meps. It's been awhile since I had them, but I remember them being bigger dots and bright. I felt the Trijicons were a bit finer and crisper while the Meps were a brighter.

I have a friend who just went through this and I believe this is correct.
1. The factory Glock night sights are Meps.
2. The Trijs are smaller and don't have the surrounding ring.
3. The current popular night sight, with the Glock crowd, are the Ameriglo
4. The Novaks were very popular for their racey look, with the downside being they are hard to rack, using the sight, one-handed
If you haven't looked at them, the Heine Straight-Eight night sights are very popular for the Glock. Low profile, rugged and highly visible
My personal choice would be a single front lamp on the front blade like on the 10-8 Performance sights, as speed of alignment is a higher priority for me

Is this a relativly new change? My old Glock 17 came with factory Trijicon night sights.
This is what I replaced the factory sights with when they wore out. I find the Heine "2-dot" sights much quicker than the more typical "3-dot" sights to line up in poor light.
