Anybody out there ever use a laser boresighter to get a night vision scope on the paper? Did it work? Did it damage your sight? At what range did you use it? Thanks in advance.

I can't imagine that a laser boresighter would damage the optic or your eyes if used appropriately. Just don't point it at your eyes/optic and you should be fine.

I've never used NV before but my general knowledge tells me there should be no issue using the laser to sight it in. However, because most boresighter lasers are red (roughly 650nm) and not infrared (700nm+) your optic may not pic up the laser at all. If you had an IR laser however, then you'd have a better chance at being able to see it with NV.

Good luck!

I don't have a night vision scope, but I do have a 1st generation NV monocular, so I put a laser on my rifle and just point it like a laser pointer.

the point of all this is to say that YES you can see the red laser very very easily in a 1st generation night vision monocular. I would assume that a 1st generation NV scope would perform similarly.

I got the idea from my marine son, who said this is how they were taught to do night work.

We used PEQ15's mounted at 3 o'clock on the forward rail of our M4/16's They have both red and IR lasers that zero in conjunction.
The way we zeroed them was by using both a bore sight and the visible laser at the same time, out to 30m (I think, it's been a little over a year) with a buddy standing over the target and verbally guiding your adjustment of the lasers until they sit at the same elevation with a space of about two inches between each dot (bore sight left, PEQ on the right.)
Then once night fell, we'd night shoot using the IR laser and our PVS14D's on a helmet mount essentially shooting from the hip, or at least over your optics. It was just point and shoot.
I was impressed by the "accuracy" achieved with this method. Minute of man as long as you can see your laser.
Good luck!
