Nikon prostaff scope experiences?

A short list for me would be:
VX-2, VX-3, MeoPro, Bushnell Elite 3500 and 4500, Minox ZV 3, Sightron Big Sky and Zeiss Terra, Burris C4 and Cabela's Euro Instinct.
Thanks! As I wrote the difference in quality was indistinguishable for me with either the VX-2 or 3 or any of the Bushnell or Burris scopes. I did not evaluate the others, but I did find that the VX-3i was noticeably sharper than the Prostaff. I have already decided that's going to be my next scope.

Cabela's Euro Instinct was also an improvement, less so than the VX-3i, but it's also considerably more expensive than Nikon. That is what puts their prices in a different category: much more expensive than the Prostaff.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will certainly consider the others when I can find one to look at.

grice gun shop(pa.) has-had 3x9 verex-1 leupold scopes with clicks, not friction adjustments for 149.99+tax. i bought two last week and to me its a super deal with the no BS warrenty, no jumping thru hoops no matter who owns it or what went wrong with. it they will repair-replace it. eastbank.

I forgot to mention in my response about my Prostaff, that I have a VX-3 3.5-10X and a VX-3i 3.5-10X and both are far superior to the Prostaff as are all of my Leupolds. But, as you say, the Leupolds are in a different category.

I have a couple 3x9s on hunting rifles, 243 and 270, no issues, the prostaffs have been decent scopes and reliable in the field.

For a long distance range rifle, I 100% agree to get the best glass you can afford, but in my opinion (take it for what it is worth), decent hunting glass starts at the Nikon prostaff, great glass is more expensive, you need to decide for yourself if decent is acceptable or if you need great.

I have found for hunting, decent works for me. I personally don't need great glass for hunting, just decent and reliable that will get me out to 400, if the shot is longer than that, or if I felt I could not make the shot at that distance, I would get closer before pulling the trigger.

I honestly think you can buy a better scope for the same money as a Pro Staff. The glass just isn't as good as some of the other choices in the price range. However, my experience with the ones I've had is that they are very durable. Once zeroed, I've never had one lose zero even when being dropped and banged around in the truck. While they aren't the best imo, there are certainly worse scopes out there.
