A little while ago on another thread, i found a nice deal on refurbished Nikon Buckmasters, and i've been thinking of upgrading from the cheeseball, bottom of the line Bushnell my Beeman R9 came with ( the magnification ring came stuck from the factory). I've already posted this question on the only airgun forum i know, and done a bit of Googling. Now it's y'alls turn !
I'm trying to find out if Nikon scopes are rated for the highly destructive,two-way kick of springer ( or break-barrel) air rifles.Any help much appreciated.....M.

Forums in general just baffle me. Why is it that i, or someone else, can post a question that's more than reasonably clear, and person after person will click on it,read it, then just walk away ?????? The fact that i ended my title with a question mark pretty much made it obvious that i wasn't dispensing information, but seeking it. So if you don't know anything yourself, why are you even reading it ?
I've observed this infuriating phenomena on several forums, for years, ranging from bicycle racing to scuba diving.I'm just sitting here looking at the screen, scratching my head, yet, as this is 'TheHighRoad", unable to truly articulate what i'm thinking.

Because we don't know?

Why do I open threads? Because the title never contains enough information, that's why. Well, let's take yours. Your title was "Nikon scopes on air rifles?" I was curious about what you wanted to know. All Nikon scopes? One Nikon scope? One line of Nikon scopes? Bell clearance using an airgun mount? All air rifles? A specific brand of air rifle?

I checked a couple of sites last night, including Nikon's, and none of them said one way or the other. I thought about e-mailing Nikon, but you can do that yourself. I was going to post what I found, but went to bed instead.

Maybe you should get some sleep too and then you won't be so cranky. ;)

It is my understanding that most rifle scopes have a hard time on air rifles. The different recoil pulses tend to tear them up. I would instead look for a dedicated air rifle scope. I learned this the hard way and destroyed a Nikon Pro-Staff on my break top air gun.

So if you don't know anything yourself, why are you even reading it ?
Because I would like to know as well?

Lighten up. I never really thought about it before, knowing I needed an air rifle scope, but I use Nikons on my 10/22s, and would like to have the clarity on my air rifle. I'll check back in from time to time to see if you got an answer. I hope that's OK.

(QUOTE) "Because I would like to know as well"

Yet, as you could clearly have seen from the number ( or total lack) of responses, there was is fact no information to be had. Which brings us back to my earlier query....."why even click on it"?
And thanks WoofersInc for even making the effort ( not being sarcastic). But i already realized rifle scopes have a hard time on air rifles, which is why i asked about using a well-known,high-quality scope on a mere pellet rifle in the first place. My question is (or should have been ) : Is this particular brand up to the task of performing on a notoriously destructive platform such as a break-barrel pellet rifle ?
But i must be honest here, at this point i'm just arguing for arguings' sake.
I'm boat-sitting in Roatan,Honduras, beginning to get bored out of my mind, and tossing back rum and cokes, so please forgive my sarcasm and annoyance.
Anyway,I'm no longer interested in the Nikons. From what i've gathered elsewhere, they're not what i need to be looking at. I think i'm back to the Bushnell Elite line, where i kinda was in the first place, and probably shoulda stayed.......:D
