my uberti '60 had two factory nipples that wouldnt budge for nothing, chewed up a nipple wrench so i quit messing with it last fall, too much other stuff going on.
read on THR about using a drill press (dont turn it on!) to work loose a stubborn nipple, got me thinking... so this is my drill press :D
stubborn nipples didnt stand a chance
i ground a 3/16 socket to make a wrench, put it in a cheapie vice (pad the cylinder with leather) clamp it down, use the vice grips to turn the socket... i had my doubts as it all looked a little shaky, but it worked!

Can Anybody recommend replacements/better nipples?
Thanks THR, i learn so much on here, always read something that makes me think.

Either Treso #11-50-16 (or 11-50-166 six pack). I buy them from the Possible Shop. http://www.possibleshop.com/s-s-nipples-cb.html
or
Slix Nipples for Uberti (From Desperado bullets or Long Hunter Supply) http://www.longhunt.com/ or http://www.cowboybullets.com/

Both are "best quality" nipples

I tore up a few nipple wrenches when i first started. I realize now that they have enough threads that i dont need to worry about them blowing out.

Now i use the thread lock from TC its like a clear white grease and i just snug up the nipples i dont crank em like i use to.

Ive only replaced one set of nipples and they were just stock ones from cabelas. I thought they would help my accuracy but they didnt help at all.

Any auto parts store has spark plug anti-seize for a couple of bucks. The smallest size (envelope) will last a couple of years.
Use it liberally and finger tight the nipple into the cylinder

And lube the threads when you put 'em in.
Do yourself a favor and when you put the new ones in use "Anti seize" it's made by Permatex. You can get it at any auto parts store and a small tube will last you a life time. Also when y ou put the nipples back in,, just enough to keep them in ! You don't have to "SNUG" them up, you only want them in so you can take them out easily right ? I'm glad that worked out for you with the drill press n all. You'll never have to do that again rgt ? lol most of us have been through that also. I had a BP shot gun that a guy tightened up the nipples because he cleaned them out and when he put them back he snuged em up so to speak and what a time I had. I made a nipple wrench out of some very hard steel and made it so I had to tap the wrench onto the nipple so that it fit very tight, and I made it with a long "T" handle so that I had leverage. I got it out but it was really on there ! I only finger tighten them with my nipple wrench, and that's with the Anti seize on the threads :D

thanks guys, i really do know the lube/anti-sieze the nipples as the four i pulled last fall got lubed before i put the gun up till i could fool with the other two.

As ive read, sometimes in italy they have a strong man contest at the factory when they install the nipples:D
im gonna give a spin to some after market, trying to get my ducks in a row for spring
Appreciate all the replies
