I finally joined the band wagon and placed an order for CVA 1851 revolver, nothing fancy though, just for fun. Do I need to get an extra set of nipples? I called CVA customer service and they told me I should get the 6.75 size. Well that's out of stock and the availables are 1/4x28 and 6x1mm. Which is the right one for revolver?

TIA,

I wouldn't worry too much about replacement nipples. I've had my 1858 for over 3 years now and still have 2 3-packs of nipples that I've never even opened and I've fired 100s of rounds thru the 2 complete cylinders I have for it.

In fact, a spare cylinder is the much better investment....................allows for much more shooting for a given amount of range time. Cabelas carries them, complete with nipples, for a fair price. Here's a link for it:

Mark - Thanks for the advice. I'll pass the extra cylinder since I won't be shooting much from this revolver. The price just caught my eyes and I couldn't let it pass.

Ok guys, I need to ressurect this thread again. I will buy something on-line and I might as well get a replacement nipples. What size should I buy? This revolver is made by Pietta for CVA.

Check the gun out before worrying about nipples. The hammer should NOT touch the nipples; there should be a few thousandths clearance. This is good to fire the cap and the hammer won't batter the nipples either in firing or in dry firing.
