Occasionally I read a brief mention of such exotic calibers as the 577, 600 and 700 Nitro Express. Obviously these are not mouse guns, though they might be good for underground armadillo hunting, shooting into the burrows.

My question is not so much one about which types of elephants and rhinos would they knock down, but is a legal one.

Are these larger-than-fifty-calibers listed as Title I or Title II? In other words, is there a transfer fee for them under the NFA? If so are they registered as an AOW or a DD or what? Is their transfer fee $5 or $200? I'm not going to run out and plunk down $40,000 for an antique English double rifle, but this has got me curious.
