No 45 Colt conversions for Pietta 1860 Army??

I got one a little while back. They may not be popular enough to keep in stock. If you’re talking about the Howell’s/R&D/Taylor’s type conversion cylinder.

That doesn't make sense. They still make them for Pietta navies and Remingtons. Oh well just get a Kirst.

get a kirst, little more money but u will love it,NOT hard to grind for loading on gun--dremal and a few grinding drums is all u need, also im pretty sure they come with instructions,i did 3 remies and 3 colts 45cal and 36, and u can still take cylinder out and put back black powder cylinder

I'd like to see one in 45acp
That would be a bit more difficult, since the 45 ACP is loaded to 21,000 PSI whereas the Colt round is at 14,000 PSI. A stronger steel for the cylinder might be required which means increased cost. The frame would be battered harder by the higher pressure round. There is no doubt it could be done, but at what cost?

That's a good point.

Check out the post above yours. Those are .45 ACP.

The cost of a Kirst conversion cylinder!
The picture of the pair above your post ( as Hawg pointed out) are mine ( Uberti's). The one on the right with silver plated tg ( Beauty and the Beast) is the first one to have that cylinder and get to a range for testing. The pressure you mention is a concern only for the condition of the revolver platform you install it in, the 5 shot cylinder is more than capable of containing the acp round. You obviously wouldn't want to install this cylinder in a "rattle trap" and render a frame useless. B and the B has almost 1000 rounds of factory ammo FMJ and about a quarter of that is a cut "above" the standard pressure for testing purposes only. These revolvers were setup to be "test beds" for the open-top platform and the 45acp cartridge is an excellent one for that purpose. I would definitely recommend the arbor length be corrected (and endshake adjusted to .002"). The results are a most gratifying revolver with an easily available cartridge.
