Your lucky its not the wolves we are getting here. The coyotes will not kill adult deer AS MUCH down south as they do up here. They will take the sick or injured or young ones. If you lived where there is deep snow that changes things in the coyotes favor. I see deer in the same fields minutes after or before coyotes all the time.

As Mnhunter said, wolves have become a big problem here. Along with the heavy snows, wolves have seriously reduced the deer population in some areas.
Last weekend 8 of us hunted a good deer area and one of us saw 2 deer and did not get a shot. The rest of us saw nothing. I have shot dozens of deer, this is the first time I never even saw a deer. Wolves here kill more deer than hunters. Coyotes may have a smalleffect.
