What are your guys' thoughts on this no duty to retreat law that just passed the House in Alaska?
I'm not real legality savvy, so explain what this could mean for those who would regrettably find themselves in a situation in which they needed to use their firearm?
What is the legislation like in your state, and what does that mean for you compared to Alaska if you were in the same situation?

Stand Your Ground means if you are in a place where you have a right to be, you may stand your ground when threatened. Why this is important is that in states where there is a "duty to retreat" ,also known as "back against the wall" rules, and you shoot while there is still ANY avenue of escape, your actions might NOT be ruled justifiable, and you may go down for murder.

AZ law recognizes the right to self defense, whether at home or out and about, with no "run so he can shoot me in the back" rules.

In Michigan, wherever I am, I am there legally, I have no obligation to flee, I can protect myself. Also. If I shot someone, and it's found to be a "good shoot", I am protected from civil suits.

Kansas also has both the no-duty-to-retreat and the civil liability protection statutes.

But I second the earlier post that retreating, if possible, is likely better than shooting.
