Hidden in our blind, I spot a nice sized buck. He is done mating and is returning to the gnome decoy, probably to take a nap.

that's just funny....

Son takes careful aim using a Savage 111 in 25.06. 22 rimfire works fine on domestic eggs but you need something a little bigger for the feral variety.
I’m providing backup for him with my Mossberg Persuader 12ga. First four rounds are slugs, next four are 00 buck shot. You can’t be too careful when dealing with a wounded and angry feral.
SPLAT! :D

Harumph. Anybody can snipe feral eggs from the safety of a blind. I want to see Mark Sullivan-style CHARGE videos.

I prefer my eggs fried crispy with the yokes intact and well done.

Therefore I prefer to use a nice hard cast 200gr SWC at about 1000fps in my 6" model 57 .41 magnum.
I find it will penetrate deeply enough to reach the yoke but but not damage it enough to render it scrambled. .357 often requires a "coup de gras" (second shot). The .44 special or magnum does almost as well but often causes too much shell damage.

Using a SWC also minimizes the amount of shell fragments carried into the wound channel.

The longer sighting radius of the 6" barrel enables more precise aiming than a shorter barrel. An egg in full run has a quite wobbly gait. Anything longer than 6" is just too long to swing quickly.

Feral eggs for breakfast and barbequed rabbit for dinner. Ahhh behold the perfect Easter.

When I was younger I would hunt them wearing nothing but a loin cloth and my only weapon was a egg yolk seperator.
Too old and slow for that now.

What I don't get is how people take those yellow marshmallow easter candies and make gun sights out of 'em. That makes no sense at all.

Sisco,

That is still one of the funniest things ever posted. :D

Unlike some of the big-bore fans who've posted here, we tend to downsize things a little bit: I prefer to take my easter eggs with a .22, so as not to spoil the meat. My husband prefers even less gun than I do, hunting his eggs with a paintball gun so as to enhance the natural coloration of the beasties.

Of course, if you shoot from too close, all your friends start laughing and if you ask what they are laughing about they are likely to say, "The yolk's on you! Hahahaa..."

Happy egg day.

I guess everyone missed the story out of Flint Mich where kids hunting for easter eggs at a school found two loaded guns in the bushes !!!!!
