Wal Mart to suspend ammunition sales

I just heard this on the news.

The rational given was that Wal Mart wanted to protect themselves if new legislation was passed.

So far the source was a Wal Mart employee, who was told that they would not be ordering any more ammunition.

It will be interesting to see if this is real or just a mis-understanding.

wal mart

Purchased 2 boxes of .38 rounds this Morning ,cashier told me they just got them this morning about 12 boxes on the shelf..Shelves was probably half filled with other ammo

Bobk538447, that is what scares me is the "pending upcoming decision". Walmart is always quick to jump ship though. Remember the music they would not sell, or had to have a "clean" version before they would carry it. Walmart is usually the first to sell out the rights of it's customers.

BREAKING & CONFIRMED: Wal Mart Is NOT Going To Order Any More Ammo.
January 12th, 2013

I do not have a link as of yet but here is what I have found out…

Stopped by my local Wal Mart this morning. They are out of almost every kind of ammo.

I asked to talk to the person in charge of ordering to see if they had any information on this subject.

The manager I talked to said they had not heard anything…BUT.
She tried to order some .223 as I was standing there. She said the order was being rejected by the corporate office. Said she had never had that happen.

She called corporate as I was standing there.

And was told this. “As of right now Wal Mart is not going to be making any new orders of ammo because of the upcoming decision on the second amendment”. Said, “As of right now we are unsure of what new legislation might be coming, and because of this, we are suspending new orders. We will continue to sell what is already in stock in stores and at our distribution centers, but any new orders will not be shipped until the issue is resolved”.

So after they run out, there will be no restocking until Obama makes his decision…Hows that change working out for you now?

As I said, I dont have a link, but you can call Wal Mart headquarters at 1-800-925-6278 for yourself and ask. After the answer press 2 then 1 then 1 again and wait to talk to a rep. I just did this myself and was told the same thing.

Something must have changed at the meeting they had on Thursday.
Guess we will have to wait and see what Obama has in store for us next.

Guys, I am not making this up…Call and find out for yourself.

He even made the call and recorded the response from Chinamart HQ

More supply for other vendors then. This is not reducing the amount being produced, merely changing who you need to purchase it from.

That being said, since the President was specifically talking to Walmart about restrictions, then it's likely they know something we don't.

I'm not doubting the confirmation of the story, but makes no sence. Ammo sales cannot cease, so why would it affect walmarts bottom dollar?

If more people stop shopping at wal mart the little guys can come back up in the market. I hope they do stop selling guns and ammo.

Don't think there's any truth to that. My local store is still getting in new orders regularly.

The company is motivated by exactly one thing, and it ain't political pressure. If stocking a product is profitable, they will. If using that floorspace to stock a different product is more profitable, they will.

Ammo sells as soon as it hits the shelves. Doubt they'll quit retailing it.

11 mins - I hate that complaint about wal-mart. You can buy your eggs, socks, snow tires and ammo. no matter how long you wait at the desk its less wait than it takes to drive to another store.

WalMart grosses me out every time i walk in one. Ammo was the only reason to go.

Just literally got off the phone with the manager of my local WM's Sporting Goods Dept., a guy I went to High School with, and he says it's complete BS.

I hope they never sell ammo again. It's their loss, not mine. I quit shopping there when they went up on their clay pidgeon's from $3.97 for a box of 90 to $10.99 in one jump. Pissed me off enough I have not went back for anything and it has'nt bothered me at all. Guess I was really tired of that chinamanese crap anyway. :)

This stuff irritates me,

All these blogs have headlines line this:

"WalMart Suspends Ammo Orders"

But when you actually read the blog it's:

"WalMart reportedly has"

Headline is a definitive, actual story is a "maybe, we heard"........

This was likely floated out by some anti group, just to see who bites. Even if false damage is done.

I wonder if Walmart will contact Rush Limbaugh as I also heard it on his show today. Seems like they would want to do it.
