I just bought a brand new 700 Varmint 22-250 and I wanted to lighten the 5.5lb factory trigger pull it has. I took it out of the stock and there is no head on the screw where I have adjusted them before. I don't make my living as a gunsmith but I have done this in the past. Is there any way to lighten the pull of new manufactured 700's?

I just finished an R & R of scopes from an old pump to a new 700 and the trigger was pretty bad, but was not asked to address the trigger on the 700 which was about 6.5 lbs. just finished a new house and had no time for shop work, so this was the first new 700 I worked on. I was wondering about the new trigger, good to know it can be addressed.

Install or have installed by a competent 'smith a Trigger Tech trigger group & eliminate the OEM Rem X Mark-MIM'd JUNK.

It's not really THAT bad of a trigger. Sometimes it's best to use what you have.

Sounds like you go it worked out.
