I picked up a PSL yesterday. I really like this thing. I haven't been able to buy an AK type rifle with no US made parts on it in a while so it reminded me of the old days.

I see that I need to be firing light ball ammo. What should I get? People like the Wolf 148gr but I can't find anyone with it in stock. I'd really prefer non-corrosive.

Really, not only is Wolf the best cost-wise, it's also the best performer according to many. Privi or S&B in 148gr would be okay, but I've seldom seen the lighter-weight loadings of 54R from ANY manufacturer.

Just shoot the rifle with the corrosive ammo, then fire 5 shots of non corrosive just before leaving the range. It will make it much easier to clean when you get home.

Clean with Mpro7, which is water based, and your rifle will 1) be really clean, and 2) have the corrosive salts dissolved and readily removed as one would do in an ordinary cleaning regimen.

With these rifles be sure to check each round to assure it will chamber before loading it in a magazine. OBD is scary!

Wolf 148 grain Black box steel case ammo is the best modern non corrosive ammo for your PSL. I have one two. Surplus ammo shoots aweful in them anyway!

try ammotogo.com, they have a wide selection of ammo, and if you don't see what you want on their site, give them a email, they are glad to help.
