Greetings to all... I'm new to THR but I do definitely appreciate the thought behind it, and figured this might be the best place to ask a 'noob' question.

(I should say first, for background... I'm not a complete gun newbie but I do know you only should stop learning when your blood stops flowing.)

I've been trying lately to get a lot deeper on my book collection for firearms. I'm specifically looking for books on both the 1911 family, and revolvers as well, particularly the Ruger family. There's a lot of forums out there, and more than a few blogs with some good info, but sometimes it's nice to have a real dead tree version, you know?

I'm OK with something like a coffee-table sized thing, so I can get lots of good pictures (there's nothing wrong with a little gun pron). Historical stuff is good, so you can see the development from A to B to C. And I'd definitely like to hear if anyone know of books that're good for the technical knowledge.

Amazon doesn't seem to have the best selection... where do most people find the good gun books, anyway? My local bookstores all are a tad too highbrow, it seems, and the second hand stores don't help, since y'all are keeping your books. :)

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Ruger and His Guns by RL Wilson

Ruger Single Action Revolvers by Dougan (two volumes)

And go sign up at rugerforum.com as well. If it has to do with Rugers, the good folks over there can help you out, I promise you.
