+1 for the 870 clone.

I own 3 Norincos, 2 sks' (one regular and one paratrooper) and a mak90. I have had them all for ~20 years and they have been flawless. get the norinco sks!

I would go with the Norinco made 870 style shotgun if I had to choose. I like both.

Sorry, but I wouldn't rest my families lives in any Chinese made product.

We will never have to fear winning a War with China because all of their weapons would break down and we would win. Sounds foolish...

One thing China knows how to do well, make weapons of War. That is not to say all weapons made by China are well made, some are not. That is the case with all firearm manufactures.

The Mak 90 was or is being used by the US Navy Seals.

Or find one of the many fine, used originals. There are many 870s and 37s out there waiting to be snatched up for under 250.00 ;)

Since Guruji is looking for a HD shotgun I'd say for $300 Cdn brand new it's hard to beat the 12.5 " Grizzly....if these were available in the US without the stamp hassles they would be quite popular.
# Barrel Length 12.5"
# 12 gauge x 3"
# Capacity: 4+1
# Screw-In Modified Choke
# Bead Sight
# NON-RESTRICTED

they work

id get either one and shoot it..i know some people dont care for the chinese, but every norinco mac,sks and tokarev pistol were all i could afford back when they were cheap i payed 225.00 for a mac90 and they did what was asked, fired everytime.now to shotguns go on gunbroker under pump shotgun and type in riot, they got american, chinese, turkish a little of everything, the best riot i ever had is a old 70"s police winchester 1200 from west memphis pd,still have it,its a decent 150.00 gun, they"rs one just like it on gunbroker someones bid 125.00 on..

guruji,

I'm not very well qualified to comment on the gun market in Canada, I'm afraid. Given the choices you list, however, I'd go with the 870 clone, but if you are a genuine beginner, I'd say start with a longer barrel model (18- 20") than the Grizzly that Leadhead was kind enough to picture for us.

I agree that if it were sold here in the USA without the additional paperwork hassle, they'd sell like hotcakes- but for a beginner, I'd rather see a bit more barrel in use, just for safety's sake- it's a bit harder to unconsciously 'cover' parts of your own anatomy with a somewhat longer barrel. Once proper muzzle discipline is firmly ingrained, it's not an issue- but for beginners, better safe than sorry IMHO.

Stay Safe,

lpl

If you get a clone with a barrel length longer then 14" it will be different in that the mag tube is longer ( more capacity) but it will not except standard 870 barrels due to the lug being in a different position....the 14" and 12.5" clones have the same mag tube length as a standard 870 and will except 870 barrels with minor fitting.
If you want you can get a longer barrel for your grizzly or Norinco HP9 (870clone) for bird hunting or clays.
If you only want to buy one barrel and you want an 18.5" I'd consider the Remington express....if you want shorter then the grizzly is the way to go.
Lee has a point about muzzle control but it applies to all firearms regardless of barrel length....keep you finger off the trigger until you are on target and don't point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy!
