Just wanted to heap a little praise on Norinco's. I've had 3 through the years and this one is my "keeper". It started out as a box stock Series 70 clone that shot much better than I ever thought it would. It has always been extremely reliable. This one now shoots 1.0"-1.25" @ 25 yards when I'm "on". After a couple years of tinkering with this one, it's finally finished.

It's got a Kart NM barrel, Fusion hammer, original Vdecki trigger, Ed Brown SS match barrel bushing, MGW rear sight, Dawson Precision front, Ed Brown straight checkered mainspring housing, drop-in beaver tail, Ed Brown sear and disconnector; I had the frame finished in Melonite and the slide is a deep royal blue. I love this thing!

Not familiar with your pistol got questions

To be honest I'm not familiar with your pistol.
Curious what's the caliber, and how many rounds can you pack in it.
Darned nice looking piece of steel, and it sounds like it's a tack driver.

Have you ever tried any long distance shooting with it just for fun?
My father used to be able to slam a target at 100 yds, with his 1911- .45
If you can shoot those groups at 25 yds you really should try a longer distance for fun. I have a 9mm I just got, and so far all I'm getting is on to the paper at 25 yds. Won't be too long and I'll be up close to your accuracy - I hope.

Like I said - Nice looking pistol

I use a box stock Norinco as my usual CCW. I have to admit I only tried one after hearing one of the members talk about how good they where.

It is accurate and has NEVER had a FTF or FTE. I am going to have to have mine buffed and finished, they do look nice that wasy.

Nice job & pistol...I've had one stock Norinco many years ago and found it to be solid & reliable. I'm just curious with all the parts changing, when does a Norinco become not a Norinco? :)

Mad,

Valid question. I guess this Nork is like the Johnny Cash song about the Cadillac he built by stealing the parts over several years:cool:

This Nork was my learning curve pistol and it's a miracle it survived as well as it did with my home gunsmithing:uhoh:

I have Norinco NZ-85B(CZ-85B clone).it is very robustly made pistol.i found it very very accurate.

My Nork has been very reliable and accurate since I bought it. I did a little tinkering. IMHO, one of the best 1911s there is to upgrade.

I have to ask, what do you estimate you've put into this piece of art? I'm not a big fan of .45acp, but seeing things like this make me want to get a 1911

My Norinco is my tinkering and learning gun. I recently upgraded the trigger group of another 1911 so I had a spare combat hammer & matching sear so I figured I'd test out a drop in beavertail on the Norc. No, it's not as smooth as grinding the frame and fitting one, but it looks OK and works well. I recycle most of my parts thru this one as the trigger came from my Colt Commander. This is a great shooter BTW...

smithmax,

I've got about $1050.00 total in this pistol, which includes the initial purchase cost, refinishing, and all the parts. I do my own work. I "feel" it's a bargain for a 5100 series forged steel frame and slide 1911.

I have had many 1911's through, the years, and to me, a forged frame has different "heft" to it. This Norinco is very solid and confidence inspiring, both in reliability and accuracy. I can't recall a malfunction with it that was a fault of the pistol. This alone makes it worth the money for me.

El Schmeky , beautiful pistol - just wondering, was the drop-in beavertail really drop-in? I need two or three, but hate to mess up....I've heard Ed Brown, and also Wilson - thanks
