I'm reacquainting myself with a Norinco 213, made in China by Norinco, that I have owned for many years.

I had not shot it in more than 10 years. Recently I've taken it to the range and I don't think that I've ever had jam-free shooting with any 8-round magazine. As I recall, that was the original problem and condition years ago.

I do enjoy firing the gun and it does have some accuracy. But the jamming-mostly stovepipe-is frustrating, and I wonder if there are any recommendations to lessen that possiblity.

I only shoot factory ammo through this weapon.

Thanks in advance...

Couple of issues may be at the heart of it.

Are you using ball ammo. These guns don't like anything outher than militay style ball.

Second, it could be LOA problems with the ammo. 9mm is shorter than 762.

.

Yea they spec it after the original design, so no modifications to the ramp or barrel are done at the factory. Ball ammo only. I used winclean at first on mine and it jammed about once every two mags, sometimes twice. Once I got the FMJ it has never jammed once.

Sort of. The 213 magazine well was originally designed for the longer 7.62x25 round. When the gun were converted to 9mm for U.S. importation, they modified the gun in one of two ways. On some (probably later) guns, they put a spacer in the mag well and sold the guns with magazines designed for the shorter 9mm round only. On earlier guns, like mine, they just put spacers in what were originally 7.62 magazines to block them for 9mm. These early guns have an unmodified mag well and will accept either the original 7.62x25 mags or those modified for 9mm. My suspicion is that you've got a 9mm barrel in the gun, but are using 7.62 mags.

Forgive me, but what is 'LOA'?

I have four mags, the cartridges fit very, perhaps too easily into them, I only shoot ball. I've picked up hundreds of rounds of CCI Blazer, Win USA, etc. on various sales. I am 'stuck' with ball, but that seems to be 'made to order'. Perhaps there is a good possibility the mag is designed for larger or different caliber, as described. So how do I distinguish the proper mag and is it likely that will solve the problem? I'm not sure I completely understand your post above-are you saying you believe that I have the 'earlier' mag?

Would it be worth it to go to a gun show this weekend? $17 for discounted admission and parking. About $8.00 in fuel. Thinking about buying some powder, bullets as well, though I purchase bulk online from Powder Valley. I will try the sites recommended, above, and ebay also. Thanks for all your posts.:fire:

Owning the four apparently non-conforming magazines, is there any way they can be converted so that feed will be more reliable? If so, is it something that would require a gunsmith's services?

Can anyone post a photo of the mag with the spacer? This would be really helpful in doing some conversions of those mags to 9mm.

Before you go that far, you might find yourself a loaded 7.62x25 round (or snapcap) and see if it fits in the magazines. If it does, then the magazines are your problem.

I don't have a picture available, but all the spacer appeared to be is a length of square barstock attached to the inside of the rear surface of the magazine. You will probably need new springs and followers as well. Probably better to see if you can locate factory 9mm magazines.
