Norway is going downhill..

Sorry Virgil, poorly worded on my part, I know they are legal with the Tax Stamp, thank you. Old Guy.

If Norway is going downhill, Sweden is way below!

Since we were such chickens during WW2 and abandoned Finland, Norway and Denmark (our closest friends and relatives to nazis and commies), we earned a lot of money after the war. Our industry was intact, and the workforce unhurt, but we lost our soul and became naive.

Your government may not have made the best decision, but read up on Raoul Wallenberg. A Swedish diplomat and one of the greatest heroes of the second World War.

That is true!

One can criticise the Swedish government, but not the strong individuals who chose to move toward the current. For example, a lot of Swedes chose to join the Finnish army in the war against the Soviet Union. Heroes who chose to risk their own safety for what they believed was right. This is a legacy that should be pointed out in the history education.

Unfortunately 200 years of peace and 70 years of socialist government have made Swedes in general to forget that freedom and independence has a high cost. Forgetting how quick conditions can change from prosperity and peace to poverty and chaos, the government is trying to make the citizens (subjects) defenseless the day that happens.

The Swedish Defense Forces gets less resources every year. Less and less young Swedes are tought to use guns to defend themselves and their loved ones. In media, the anti-gun propaganda is legio. I recognize the situation and choice of arguments you Americans are forced to endure. After a family tragedy including a Home Defence Forces member, all weapons are now locked, with the key stored at another place. A definite reduction of the defensive potential, because of one incident and its public aftermath.

What will the journalists, and senseless safety-addicts say the day the Home Defence is needed? Will they defend us?

I chose to leave the Home Defence Forces that day.

Finland has the memories of the Second world war close at hand, and knows that in politics you have no time for bull****. The Finnish Army is actually increasing their spendings. Here you have an excellent example of how Scandinavia should be!

If I hadn´t my aging parents to care for I would move there in a heartbeat.

It sucks to be a supermagnum fan in Norway, but if it helps your mood you can always consider yourself lucky for not being a dane :(

Three reasons why Denmark sucks:

1) We cant own a firearm in a caliber not on the approved list. That means that we cant get autoguns in neat calibers like .40 S&W or .45 ACP, and forget about revolvers not chambered in .22/.38/.357.

2) We cant own a firearm that meassures less than 210mm in length, because firearms that small are 'dangerously concealable'.. we woulnt want our commoners protecting themselves with the weapons they buy now, would we? Even the ban-tastic swedish laws allow for a G26. This limitation also leads to abberations such as this.

3) We have to wait TWO YEARS to get permission to own firearms. Two years with acces to nothing but rental guns is expensive and impractical, and this it keeps many people from ever getting into guns at all. I view this as a meassure taken by the state to prevent gun enthusiasts from becoming too numerous and thereby influential, and it works like a charm.

As soon as Im done with my education and have saved up a little money, Im off to the states. I seriously dislike the political climate here.

How do you plan to do that? The immigration laws are a maze..

We should start a 'get out of Hell support group' to find out how to do this. :)

Seems like all the good Scandinavians want the hell out of there..

Perhaps time for a new mass-emigration of pioneer minded, hard working, honest and free men and women to America like in the 1800:s... And nowadays there are planes instead of those slow uncomfortable steam boats... Tempting...

Reason to flee?

Clue; It has nothing to do with the cold winters, short summers with midnight sun, beautiful nature or clean air.

Why would anyone who knows where Europe is heading want to stay here? In order not to violate the forum rules I wont comment on why Europe is falling apart, but I am willing to bet that most of the EU will see a civil war within the next two decades, and you better believe that im out of here when that happens, if that is at all possible.

joffe: You are right, but eventhough it takes planning and luck to get out of here, it would take even more effort to save Europe..

Too bad we can´t discuss that here, but I know EXACTLY what you mean, ninja42. Its more visible in Denmark, but Sweden has the same problem, and its growing.

its not just norway, thats going downhill either

i might just be paraniod, but i predict within the next five years something bad will happen because of the high gas prices here in the US...

maybe a recession, or a eceonomic depression.

time to stock up on more ammo!!!
