The Nosler/Barnes bullet. Has anyone tried these solid copper Nosler's ?, how accurate were they ? and did you notice an increase in velocity? Nosler say's not to load to maximum due to it's solid construction creating higher pressures. In other words it reaches max velocity sooner (less powder) than normally constructed bullets. I have used the regular Ballistic Tips in my .280 Remington, 7x57 Mausers(2) and 8x57 Mausers(3). They are deadly accurate out of all my rifles.

I confess, I've used them in a 7mm Remington Magnum. They shot as well as anything else I've used but I can't say they shot better.
 
I have used the 150 e tip with the 7x57 and the results are GGGGreat
better then the factory rounds or anything else....I think because of how long it is... You have to be careful because it will produce more pressure the standard bullets...
I use IMR4831 powder and when I was shooting it, my partner said I missed when I fired my second shot at 100 yards. When I shot the third shot he said missed again...... when we looked at the target we seen 1 hole with 2 slight expansion rings on the upper two sides....put tape in back of the hole and then shot again again again....
6 shots and just one hole.... I never shot any better in my life... bets my Remington 700 308 any day
 
I haven't used noslers version of solids yet, but the Barnes has performed very well for me in .270 win., 30-06, and 7mm RM. I think the longer bullet profile provides better BC down range. So far as pressure issues, none if you work up while watching for signs, as with any bullet. They will produce a bit higher pressures, so powder charges do have to be developed from the lower end up, but nothing that I would consider an astromonical increase compared to jacketed bullets. However, if you seat up to the lands, as I do, then it is very important to start with minimum published data.

They don't generate any pressures more than any other bullet(non acually, it's the powder that does), anyway, you don't load them as hot soley because they are longer than the standard "leaded" bullets for a given weight. You basically have to charge them like heavier bullets because of the volume loss in the case from the longer bullet. Same as Barnes.

I do have a box for my .243win., but haven't loaded them yet.
 
I have not used the Nosler e-tip but have used, and been very pleased with Barnes TSX and TTSX in my .30 caliber rifles. I have gotten best accuracy in .30-06 with TSXs and in .308 with TTSXs. My nephew knocked off both an elk and a Pronghorn last fall with my .30-06 loads...he said terminal performance was wonderful (he's a pretty good shot too!).

I have noted that I get wonderful accuracy and consistency with Nosler AccuBonds, getting 0.75" or better groups from both my Rem 700 XCR II .375 H&H and my Ruger 77RSI .270. I was using Ballistic Tips in my .30 cals but I'll be trying to develop optimal loads with the A/Bs. Having recently noticed that I've got 13 different powders and 3-5 different bullets per caliber, I'll be trying to simplify my consumables so I may not even try e-tips.

I've fired two 150gr. out of my Winchester 30-06 and yielded two dead caribou. Both was dead right there, the other made it five yards before collapsing. Normal entry and small exit holes with massive internal tissue damage. I'll probably use them again when caribou hunting.
