Yep. I just ordered my copy - ETA 12/7. It will join Hornady 9 and Lyman 49 on the bench.

I'm sure new powders and bullets have been added since the #7, so worth the $ to me. I refer to Nosler data quite often.

I have always wondered how much testing is done to attain this data or if they utilize Quickload or a program similar. In the old days it was always noted loads were tested in a universal receiver with a barrel and barrel length given. Not so much anymore. As long as the data is safe and used as a guideline, it doesn't matter.

curious minds might like to know QM

This is what I've always liked about the Hornady manual. They tell you the gun or test rig used to develop their loads.

Sierra does as well. What Hornady doesn't do is give you their accuracy load. That may be irrelevant since every rifle is different but it's at least a starting point, which a new reloader like me appreciates

For most cartridges when they feel something was outstanding, Hornady will state that in the load notes at the beginning of each cartridge section. For example from .30-06:

Best results in our rifle were obtained using VARGET and IMR 4831. H 414 and IMR 4350 also gave very good results, and no powder listed gave less than acceptable results.

I think Hornday's point in all of their published loads is that they are all at least "acceptable" and they call out the spectacular ones.

However keep in mind that your best-performing rifle/bullet/powder combination will be largely unique to your gun or at least that make and model of gun.

Looks like a book to add to the collection. Would prefer electronic books to save space. I will order this one.

Good Manual for $22.99,

If you use Nosler bullets - yup it's a good manual.
If not - it's no more helpful than any other manual.

Not trying to start a flame war - just callin it as I see it.

Don't think that's flaming, Hondo. No different than Hornady's book listing only Hornady bullets. It's all good information for the same type/style of bullet to get started with.

Just as in any manual, the Nosler might not give you accuracy loads for Sierra or Hornady bullets, but to get down to it, to properly duplicate the listed loads of any manual, use the case they tested with as well as the primer too.

I received the new #8 today. They have added the Nosler calibers of 26, 28, 30. Also added the newest powders out like the new IMR 4166 etc. Other than that it looks the same as #7. It is about 50 pages smaller than #7, Which is different. The new ones are usually bigger than the old ones.

Regardless ... of whose manual or data ... it is tested in THEIR gun/devise/test barrel ...

You are not using the same gun ... your results may and most likely will be somewhat different ... velocity, accuracy and pressures ... you can match all the components ... but you can't match the gun ... no two guns are identical...

That's calling it pretty accurately I think. All they list is their bullets, so if don't use them it's probably not worth much to you. I do use them, so I'll likely pick it up.

I think that's why so many people prefer the Lyman #49, because they don't use one bullet manufacturer exclusively. It's currently the only manual I have and one could get by just fine with just it. However I am a fan of having several resources on hand and need to grab a couple more.

My Nosler 8th Ed came today. I've only had a few minutes to leaf through it, but so far I'm pretty impressed. I've never had a Nosler manual before but there a few quick-hit things that I like so far. The first is that for every charge listed, one of them is starred as "Most Accurate Load Tested" and then overall, one particular powder type is highlighted as "Most Accurage Powder Tested". Obviously that's specific to the test rig, but it's still some interesting markers on where to start. There's also a column that list the % capacity of the cartridge filled for any given load based on a water measurement of the listed case. Again, YMMV depending on your components but I think it's still very interesting data to get the general sense of the cartridge. There's also quite a good mix of powders from different vendors which is nice to see. I'm quite impressed so far.
