I take my CZ compact to the range quite often and until recently, it has been flawless with thousands of rounds down range. The last couple of trips, however, I've been having problems. This happens a couple of times per hundred rounds fired.The round looks like it travels up the ramp but gets stuck in the throat at an upward angle and doesn't allow the slide to come into battery. A light tap on the back of the slide cures the problem but it's worrysome that this gun isn't working perfectly. I make sure the gun is scrupulously clean and well lubed before each trip to the range. Could I need a new recoil spring or maybe a new mag spring? I'm going to try a different mag today to start the elimination process.
 
Sounds like a weak magazine spring. It's not pushing the round high enough, though it's still plenty high to "almost" load.
 
Sounds like your on the right track. My CZ75 when new, had a weak recoil spring (judging by how far the empties flew) so yours may be getting weak. A different mag with a fresh spring, should help the dianosis.:)
 
Just got back from the range. I tried a different mag and it didn't cure the problem. In fact, it seemed to happen more often with the swapped out mag. The problem could no longer be solved with a tap to the slide. I had to draw the slide back slightly and let it slingshot home. I thought about changing ammo but I'm using the same ammo I've been using before all this started (remington fmj). It has always fed relyably in the past.

How 'wet' do you run your gun?

If you oil up your slide rails and it feeds, that might indicate the recoil spring is getting weak.
 
CZs will accumulate carbon behind the extractor, it usually causes extraction issues but if the case head can't slip up behind it, it could cause feed issues. A long shot, but something to check. I like my empties to fall withing 6' of my feet, if yours are flying 12'-20' like mine did, your recoil spring could stand to be changed. Wolff springs dont fit like the factory, they dont fit as nice but they work. My compact had a multi strand wire spring in it also, not sure how important that is, but wolff wont have that style.
 
In the past, I used clp on all the lube points but recently switched to a small amount of grease on the slide rails and a drop of clp on everything else. In fact, I switched to grease to try to cure the problem. I noticed the build up behind the extractor early on and pay attention to it when I clean the gun. My emptys do seem to fly a good distance but I can't say for sure if it's any farther than before all this started. I have the day off today and will call CZ to see if they have a quick fix. The gun is five years old and gets a fair amount of use so maybe it's time to change out the springs. I looked at wolff springs on line but I think I'll go with factory originals. Two mag springs and a recoil spring should be less than $20.
 
Remington UMC green box? Only ammunition my CZ PCR has ever had a failure to return to battery with. Same with my Glock G34, my SIGs eat anything. Try another ammuntion like Winchester white box or Speer. Then try new recoil spring and magazines.
