After much waiting and saving and waiting, I finally got my M1 scoped. Got a Burris 2-7x handgun scope with their Ballistic Plex reticle, mounted on an AmegaRanges mount (same thing that Fulton Armory carries).

I didn't have much time at the range today, so I just got it zeroed at 200 yards. Now I have to do a bunch of playing around with the reticle holdovers at different ranges and magnifications. So far, I'm loving this setup!

You bubba'd that Garand!:what:

Only joking.:neener:
Looks good.
What's the difference between a handgun scope and a scout scope? I see that Burris has a scout scope of its own too.

She's not Bubba'd, she's Product Improved. :neener:

The difference between scout and pistol scopes, as far as I can tell, it the eye relief. Scout scopes have a bit less than pistol scopes. When I was trying to decide on a specific scope, I went to a Cabelas store and tried out all the pistol and scout scopes made by both Burris and Leupold. The Burris had the best-fitting eye relief for me, and I liked the variable power - I can use 2x for shooting under 150 yards, and crank it up to 6x or 7x for shots out at 500 or 600 yards.

edit - No, I don't know of any deals on the mounts. And if I find a good one, I'll snatch it up myself. :)

Even the best open sights in the world don't let me tell a bush from a rock from a target at 500 yards...

Langenator - The two rail systems I know of are the AmegaRanges and the Ultimak, and those photos don't appear to be either.
