"I'm leaning on option 3, I'm just worried I'll miss the Ballistic Plex Reticle"
There is no reason for a Ballistic Plex Reticle in a scope for a hunting rifle. Millions of hunters have gotten along without them for years. I started my boys out with open sights. Knowing your range to target is more important. And if you don't know your range, then the balistic plex does you nothing. All this talk of hold over is hogwash. I've never held over with a 30-06. At 300 yrds all factory loads are well within a 9 inch kill zone for a heart/lung shot. Anything more than 300yds for Elk is starting to push the envelope for what the round is capable of doing. So, you don't need the Ballistic Plex, but you should be more informed of the trajectory and terminal performance of your bullet chioce at a given distance on chosen game.

Please.. No books/comments about how a 30-06 is capable of taking Elk at 453 yards from a standing position. Yes, it can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it. I've seen Elk run 300 yards after a good lung shot from cartridges far superior than the 30-06. -And the 44mag has taken Elephant. You won't catch me trying!
You asked Retrieverman to elaborate: "I would take option "D". None of the above. I despise Burris optics and would go with a Leupold in the same price range."
Fact is, even with a lifetime warranty, there are lesser optics than Leupold and Nikon in a given price range. (of coarse there are more expensive ones) But, I've abused my Leupolds over the years and they've always been dead on. I've used Burris and Simmons and had them fail in the field. Anything is breakable, but I've had great luck with Leupold and I've entrusted my teen boy's rifles to Nikons. So far they've held up well. I am sure that there are plenty of other shooters out there that like Burris. I chose the Nikon 3-9x40Monarch and Buckmaster with Nikoplex reticle for my kids to use. The Nikons are noticebly brighter than other scopes I've used in the same price range.
