National Buy Ammo Day was started to help the ammunition industry, increase the amount of ammunition in private hands and stimulate the economy (the bigger part our sport is of the economy, the more power we can wield).

Anyway, someone long ago chose November 19th to be "National Buy Ammo Day". the website www.ammoday.com is long gone and I have no affiliation with the former website or the originators of the holiday. I also don't sell ammo or work for an ammunition manufacturer...I just like the idea of a Holiday for gun people.

Being that it falls on a Sunday this year, Saturday or even Friday should work as well

I will pass along to my wife that she shares her birthday with National Buy Ammo Day. November 19th a day which will live in infamy. :)

Might have to buy me some of that red and green holiday CCI .22s that I just heard about!

Isn't this an annual thing? The 19th of November only falls on a Sunday every seven years.
Of course you are right. I just looked at the date and saw the irony for this weekend. But hey, Dick's, I guess now Field & Stream will be happy. Them an a few others. Hey Gunny- a question. I visited an American Legion Post last week. I see you have post in your sign one name. Can you tell me the difference between American Legion, VFW, and the 40-8 clubs? Email me if it is not appropriate here. Thanks........ (hope it is OK to ask this)

This is a good read on two of your three organizations. The Forty and Eight is similar to the American Legion and VFW with a different founding. All three are patriotic organizations with similar goals and charters. Something I did not see in reading about the VFW was while they stress for membership one must be a veteran of a foreign war. Using Vietnam as an example one can be a Vietnam Era Veteran who served honorably in the US Armed Forces between February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975. Those dates make one a Vietnam Era Veteran. To join the VFW one must have served actually in Vietnam, so there is a difference there. However, my wife and I frequent local VFW fund raisers as we strongly support veteran's organizations. At one event I came to find out the VFW does have what they call charter members who are veterans sponsored by a member. New to me but that is what I was told. Anyway, all three are similar with similar missions and goals.

In keeping with the thread title I mentioned to my wife she shares her birthday with National Buy Ammunition Day which is an honor. She told me I should buy more ammunition on her Birthday which sounds good to me. :) When she who must be obeyed says do something I do it!

Looks like Reloadron covered it.

Our muzzle loader club has the monthly shoot tomorrow so I'll be loading and shooting there. I'll stop in town on the way home and buy a box of something after.
Hmmm, I did just finish re-stocking the 270 and haven't loaded any shells for it yet..? o_O
