I'm thinking about purchasing a Noveske AR 15 N4. Currently the N4's only come in 14 inch barrels (W/ the 2 inch long flash sup). My question is, why would someone want a 14 inch barrel W/ the 2 inch flash, as opposed to the mid 16 inch. How much accuracy and velocity are you losing? Should I wait until he comes out with the 16 inch barrel. This rifle will be for range use and home protection. Thank you.

Other than appearance / cool factor I can see no reason for wanting a 14 with pinned flash suppressor.

I have a Bushmaster with a 14 inch with the AK 74 brake on it for no other reason then I really like that brake.

Noveske’s primary market for this weapon is law enforcement, so barrel length doesn't matter. I would just go with the 14.5” barrel and non-pinned flash suppressor. When you buy the weapon have it registered for a 10.5” barrel also. I talked to John and he indicated that they would be coming out with a shorter barreled version of this weapon in the near future.

The 14.5" barrel is noticably handier than the 16" with a FH. I own three ARs. Two are 14.5" and one is 16". After shooting primarily the 14.5's the 16" seems way too big.

You said this would be for home defense. I have did drills in my house (checking rooms) with both barrel lengths and there is a big difference with the 14.5".
