I was perusing the WarriorTalk board and found an interesting post from an Israeli about the "Israeli shooting method". I won't highjack the thread by posting it here, but it's worth reading: http://warriortalk.com/showthread.php?t=403
We often refer to the Israeli method as simply condition 3 carry, although there is more to it. There are historical reasons for it's development, but this is first decent explaination I've seen as to why it is still used over there.
It seems to be a classic example of "adapting a strategy to the terrain".
