No longer living in WI, I don't have a full dog in the CCW fight there, but I'd sure like to see it pass after years of effort. I'd like to see a clean bill get passed, too.

With the Democrats in hiding, the Republicans can't do anything on the budget bill because anything related to the budget or expenditures requires a quorum. However, the CCW bill would not. The Republicans could vote on the bill without the Democrats.

The bills introduced in the last three sessions have been excellent, with instant reciprocity for all issuing states, carry in restaurants, minimal training requirements, etc.

If this bill waits until the Democrats are back, I can almost guarantee that some of the good portions of the bill will be amended out. That's why this is a good time to pass the bill. Joint assembly and senate judiciary committee hearings could be held one day, the bill withdrawn from committee in the senate or assembly the next day, passed, messaged to the other chamber in the afternoon, passed there, and be on the governor's desk the next day. Two days from committee to the governor.

It's certainly possible to do it that way. It would require that no Republican try to water down the bill, which would drag out the process.

Just a suggestion for those who are involved in the fight.

yes now!!

now is precisely the time to get this thru!!! pass the law, finally!!
and when the idiot dummy-crats get back to work, and not only will they have to answer to their constituents about the ccw, maybe we can push thru the voter id , too!!!!

i personally reminded scott walker on 2 different occassions, that wisconsin NEEDS the ccw passed, and he responded favorably both times....

do it now!!

Well, I was wrong about the bill. There's enough spending in the bill to require it to go through the joint finance committee. I think it requires Dem's to get a vote in that committee.
