NRA Begging Letters.

After what happened last tuesday though I signed back up again.

I'm just the opposite. After last Tuesday, I decided to let my membership slide for a while.
Has anybody thought about the possibility of the NRA "pagers" failing or being jammed at the worst possbile moment during the vote?

Overall outcome: They botched it folks.

"I'm just the opposite. After last Tuesday, I decided to let my membership slide for a while."

Oh please. You'll wait until they have a success or two then join back up? Why don't you just keep your precious money?

As for you, Shooter, you're my kind of people.

Tim

And by the way, WAY TO GO, PATH!

Or, you could do what my wife and I did. Yeah, I get tired of the "begging" and I don't always have the $35, $50, $100 or "whatever you can afford".

We offered to help with the "Friends of NRA" fundraiser last year. Spent most of our free time for the last several weeks helping set up the banquet. Out of pocket expenses were ignored and our time was totally donated. Also donated the "buying power" of my business to help with sponsor gifts.

Result: Last Saturday night's banquet (3-6-04) yielded OVER NINETEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for the NRA.

Get Involved.

Ironically, I had a piece of NRA-ILA mail waiting for me when I got home yesterday. In light of this thread I decided to put my money where my mouth is and sent them a hundred bucks this morning.

Standing Wolf is right. If you do nothing, bad things *will* happen.

All those left-wing, scumbag politicians (Kerry is one of them) hate the NRA, then that is a really good thing.

Sometimes I send the NRA a donation when one of the lefty pols gets on TV news or whatever, to slur the NRA and gun-owners. The numerous NRA solictations make it easy. :D

Over the years I bet I have sent the NRA thousands of dollars. And, I will continue.

By the way, the financier George Soros is worth about 7 billion dollars. And he contributes heavily to the gun banners and the anti-Bush crowd. I think Soros is singlehandley trying to buy the election. And he has a number of very fat cat colleagues helping him out.

I assume the same people whining about solicitations are the same people whining about "why wasn't the NRA around to do such-and-such". It's expensive to lobby. Studies show that the solicitation letters and "trinkets" actually generate a high ROI. It's simple business. You're either in the fight or out...stop bickering and splitting our forces. It only serves the anti-gunners.

Mike, yes. The Friends events that I have been involved (as sponsor and contributor) with are expressly prohibited from soliciiting monies for politicial purposes by the IRC. That is why my sponsorship and gifts are deductible under §1061 (educational as a 501(c)(3), IIRC).

I would not believe that the lawyers for the NRA would establish two "Friends" foundations. However, I'm not a tax guy.

Don't get me wrong "Friends" is a worthy cause and an excellent instrument to sow the seeds for a fertile gun culture. However, if one wants to help in the political fight, need to contribute elsewhere.:)

El Tejon is right of course, and I knew that:

"Friends of NRA is a non-profit organization providing funding for local and national firearm safety and education programs, victim prevention programs for women, shooting range improvements, wildlife studies and habitat improvement and other civic projects"

But I feel that helping the NRA is helping the NRA. If you want your money to go to the political fight, it should go to the NRA-ILA.
