I had the chance to visit the NRA center musuem in Virginia this past week while visiting the grandkids in Springfield. I'll tell you right off...I haven't been an NRA member for almost 35 years. But, I was sure impressed with their collection and considering membership again. Being a disabled veteran I get a very good discount for a life membership. I don't agree on everything they say but, that's OK. They still deserve some help in their effort... for all of us.

The NRA is not only the biggest player on our side in Washington, DC, but they also have tremendous resources invested in things that are of interest to gun owners, including the museum you've visited, and many other facilities that are just outstanding.

For instance, you're from New Mexico, and the NRA Whittington Center is just outside of Raton. It's easily one of the nicest and most comprehensive shooting facilities I've ever visited. If you're not too far from there, you should give the place a visit.

Since you live so close, you should visit the NRA Whittington center, outside of Raton NM, Now there is gun range. Darn I type too slow, Justin beat me.

Disabled vets get a life membership discount? I have been one for 35 years and I did not know that. Too old for a life membership now....chris3

I was there on Friday after Thanksgiving. With my daughter, her husband and grandson. We we there around 10AM.

If I remember correctly it will cost $375 for a disabled vet life membership.

True, but that's at the "list price". NRA has been doing a Friends and Family thing, with no real restrictions, for several years now at $300. $300 has become the de facto rate for a life membership pretty much.

I too am a disabled vet, and this is the 1st time I've heard about a lifetime discount. I considered going from an annual member to lifetime several times, but every time I inquired, they wanted some ridiculous figure, and when you are 78 years old, I don't see giving that much $$$ for whatever I'd get out of it. I'm for supporting NRA, and have for many many years, on a annual basis.
