I'm a noobie, only owned a handgun and been shooting less than a year. I'm 34 yrs old by the way. I joined NRA a few months after my handgun purchase. I have become, at least philosophically, a big advocate of our 2nd amendment rights. (I'm sure everyone on this board are big supporters of 2A rights but I only mention this because before my handgun purchase I was a non-gun owner and quite ambivalent and unconcerned/uninterested in these issues).

Anyway, I appreciate the e-mails that I get from NRA informing me of legislative issues within my state of Florida and nationwide AND the e-mail addresses of my senators and representatives that will be voting on these issues. I have used these e-mails to construct short letters that I copy and paste and e-mail to each and every legislator voting on these 2A issues asking for their support on these issues. Most of my e-mails only receive generic/ automatic responses so I am sure that most of the content of my e-mails goes unread, but I am quite sure that my "Support such and such bill" in the subject line of my e-mail gets counted in some sort of bean-counting system so that these legislators know where their constituents stand on these issues.
For those of you on this board that haven't joined the NRA, why?? I admit I'm a noobie, but I've never been handfed so much information than my measly $30 NRA membership has given me. Power exists in numbers. Even if you join and never do anything else, the sheer size will increase our power.

My question is... How many of you fellow NRA members take the time to call or e-mail your legislators urging them to support 2A issues?
I'm sure I don't spend more than an hour a month in this effort and I'm sure these anti-gunners are flooding these offices with their opinions and we need to show them that they are "outgunned" and outsmarted. We need to let our legislators know that we read, write letters, inform our communities, and VOTE!

SORRY,

Meant to post in Legal and Political, and General Gun Discussion. Moderators please feel free to move.

Write frequently......

Add your reps and congress' phone # to your speed dial....congress main switchboard will route you to your rep by name.

Put together a list of e-mail addresses to make it easier since you're firing them off to the same people....

It really doesn't take much time

All the letter writing, phone calls, and e-mails do have some sway with fence sitters, but to be sure you have good representation in Congress(and on the state level), make sure you vote for the candidate who has the same beliefs in the Constitution you do. That's the only way to be sure.

That said, continue to write and call. It gives your representative a chance to say, "X number of my constituents support..." or, "object to..." on the floor of the House and Senate. This does have sway on all those fence sitters as well.

Look at your rights and freedoms as what would be required to survive and be free as if there were no government. Governments come and go, but your rights live on. If you wish to survive government, you must protect with jealous resolve all the powers that come with your rights - especially with the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Without the power of those arms, you will perish with that government - or at its hand. B.E. Wood

Call Your State Senator Today and Urge Him or Her to Vote “YES” to SB 2356! in Florida now, we need to hear from all Fl gun owners on this one
