Thank You Jpk

Thank you JPK for this very important post. I wish we could post this info somewhere more general than "Legal and Political" so more would see it.

Sadly I mailed in my yearly membership dues to the NRA a WEEK before learning - from GOA of course - that they are supporting this bill. I've already written the NRA that I'm withdrawing my support of them and I want my money back. I've been with GOA for 8 years and had it right the first time.

If only we could get people to spend 5% of the time that they spend typing posts on this thread and apply it to typing e-mail and letters to their State and Federal Reps then we wouldn't be facing 1/2 of the Gun Bills/Issues that we are today.

BEFORE you post your next reply on a forum please write JUST ONE e-mail to your Reps.

Here are the Federal links to Congress Critter Web Contact Forms......

House of Reps: http://www.house.gov/writerep/

Senate: http://senate.gov/ (Top right corner is Find your Senators by State).

e-mail is GOOD
Hand Written is BETTER.
Phone Call will do in a pinch...main switchboard # for Congress is 202-225-3121...put it on your speed dial and call the critters while your trapped in your car during your morning commute......

Stand up and make sure your elected officials hear you! Be polite and professional and make sure you let them know that you will be following up on these issues, writing down how they have voted on issues that are important to you and you'll be sure to vote accordingly in the next election.

The bil ONLY provides money to assist in implementation of existing law. Law that's been on the books for years. And, one of the few areas of infringement that shows any promise of actual utility. Whether or not I like it is immaterial, however.

For those who do not like the courts' processes in adjudicating mental incompetency, take it up with your state's legislature. The NRA is not in the court-reform law-making business. Nor is GOA, JPFO, CCRKBA, etc.

If it's considered to be better that a felon's conviction is not entered into NCIC, or that a violent mental patient's adjudication is not entered into NCIC, then fine. If that's the way you want the system to work, oppose this bill.

This thread is a near-record for 180-degrees off in understanding of HR 297--and yet the opening post had the text. That's just too much to deal with. Makes us look really, really foolish.
