The 14 hour (total) NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOTH) class will be offered at Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club (CFRPC) in Orlando, FL on Saturday and Sunday, July 24th and 25th, 2010. The 9-hour BASIC PPOTH class will run from 8:00am until about 5:00 pm on Saturday. The 5-hour ADVANCED PPOTH class will run from about 9:00 am until 1:00pm on Sunday. BASIC PPOTH covers classroom sessions and defensive shooting live-fire range instruction; the entire five hours of the ADVANCED PPOTH class is spent on the range, and covers more advanced defensive shooting techniques and skills.
Prospective students should have completed the NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home course, or have successfully completed a pre-course evaluation with the instructor, before taking this class. It is assumed that the student already possesses a working knowledge of handguns and gun safety.
This class satisfies the firearms training requirement for the Florida concealed weapons permit. If you already have your CWP but want a greater depth of training in defensive use of a firearm, this is a great class to consider. The class includes a module on Florida self-defense law taught by a Florida-licensed attorney, as well as defensive shooting techniques practiced on a live range.

Required Equipment- Centerfire handgun, strong side outside the waistband (OWB)holster, 200 rounds ammunition minimum (225-250 recommended), magazine carriers or pocket space to stow extra magazines on your person, at least 2 extra magazines or speedloaders for your pistol, eye and hearing protection.
Optional Equipment - Gun cleaning kit and supplies, hat and sun block, water, pen / pencil / note paper, rain gear (if needed).
Course Cost: BASIC PPOTH - $150.00 tuition fee, which includes 9 hours of instruction, range fees, official NRA student course packet, and your own copy of the NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home book. A certificate of completion of the BASIC PPOTH course will be awarded at the end of the class.
ADVANCED PPOTH- $55.00 fee, which includes 5 hours of instruction and range fees. A certificate of completion of the ADVANCED PPOTH course will be awarded at the end of this class in addition to the BASIC PPOTH certificate.
