Hi guys;
Just a quick note to say that we pulled off a series of extremely successful Natonal Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) media seminars in the LA area last weekend. Friday had LA area media; Saturday and Sunday were devoted to Hollywood stunt players, second unit (action) directors and armorers...
Essentially, we haul 'em out to the range and teach them how to *really* shoot. Along the way, while we have their full attention, we let them get to know who we really are. THIS is how we change all those misconceptions out there!
This program has had a profound effect on media over the last four years, and we've just started pushing into the entertainment community. Think of this as the ground game--no money; no glory; BIG BIG effect!
Instructors included:
Chris Edwards--Co-Founder, Glock Shooting Sports Foundation
Bruce Gray--SIGARMS/gunsmith; championships in IPSC, USPSA; 1000 yard rifle competitor
Lisa Farrell--4X World Revolver Champion, iron sight division
Angie Kelley--2X USPSA Production National Champion; tactical trainer
Richard "Tequila" Young--5X Cowboy Action Shooting World Champion
Joe "Lefty Longridge" Alesia--Cowboy Action Shooting World Champion
K.C. Escubio--Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Champion
Walt Rauch--gunwriter; Co-Founder, USPSA; Co-Founder, IDPA; Co-Founder, NTI
Dave Lauck--tactical rifle instructor; International Tactical Rifle Championship Match Director
Kim Rhode--3X (2 gold; 1 bronze) Olympic medalist in double trap
Dave Arnold--rangemaster; Co-Founder USPSA; match orgniazer for six IPSC World Shoots
Make Dalton--International Shootsists Institute Co-Founder; Steel Challenge Match Director; one of the original Southwest Pistol League Combat Masters
Gary Mehalik--NSSF Director of Communications and NRA Instructor
Yours Truly--ringmaster, resident neurotic obsessive worrier
These guys donated their time (and ranges, guns & ammo, etc.) for the Cause. If you get a chance, give 'em an "attaboy!"
mb
PS: Favorite moment was when a couple of stuntwomen--one who doubled Buffy for five years; the other drove one of the Minis in "The Italian Job" and both...height-challenged at 5 foot tall--were running a complex course that required exiting a car, smashing steel Target 1 with a tire iron, opening the trunk of the car and retrieving the gun and ammo, then engaging a half-dozen other targets. One guy after standing up on a hill watching the women run the stage a couple of times, noted, "They're like vicious little hobbits, aren't they?"
