Nugent sticks to his gun on VH1 set

I just wish he would clean up his language in his stage shows. I would be embarrassed to take my teenager to one of his acts. Pure vulgarity, but other than that, he's a great guy.

Motor City Mad(gun)man

Sweet. Three beers for the Nuge.

That a.d. just learned how powerful politics are for celebrities who AREN'T all anti-gun. Bottom line: you don't **** with the talent:evil:

That being said, any fans of the music who haven't seen him, must. I saw him at the Mud Island Amphitheatre in Memphis, TN with Bad Company (he headlined), and it was a sight to behold. He opened his set with "Purple Haze," and finished with a rip-roaring solo followed by placing his axe in front of his amp and shooting a huge red letter X on the back from across the stage with his personal hunting bow and an explosive (pyrotechnic, not grenade, you commando's;) ) tip arrow.

Stuff that blows up is cool...:D

Also, ScottsGT, bear in mind that the fans of Ted the rocker aren't always the fans of Ted the NRA guy. He still has to be the Motor City Madman onstage, even as well spoken as he tends to be on a podium. It's not exactly a family environment.

I am sure he did not need the handgun on the set (the assistent
director does not sound like a threat). But, reasons for carry are:
armed robbery ambush getting to car; car jacking on way to studio;
robbery in parking lot. Once in the studio, do you make the gun
disappear? No, you keep it in the holster. I have seen open carry at
Wal Mart and it did not bug me. Jeez. The A.D. (assistent director)
needs to stop and think: A.D. (accidental discharge) is more likely
taking guns in and out of holsters rather than leaving them there.

Seen Nugent live once, Saw B.B. King live once. Can die happy.

Ain't that the truth!! I saw him as the opening act for KISS about 6 years back. But as his popularity as Ted the NRA guy grows, it too will help populate his shows. I think a few NRA members are in for a shock!

No, Ted is not a reserve officer....he is a FULLY SWORN deputy with Lapeer County in Michigan.

So, yeah...HR 218 covers him anywhere in the US.

GO TED...YOU ROCK!

he's been a 'special deputy' for lake county, michigan for a long time. he's also a reserve deputy constable in mclennan county, Texas, but i don't know which precinct.

being a reserve in many states actually qualifies you as a fully sworn officer. in Texas, reserves carry the same powers as a full-time officer, and as such are peace officers commissioned by the state.

Ted's life (as well as the lives of his children) have been publicly threatened on too many occasions to count by PETA types. I'd be willing to bet the threat count is higher for him than for Feinswine, yet she gets to keep her .38 on her even in places LEO's couldn't. Not to mention armed body guards. Not to mention that anyone making public threats on her life would soon wind up behind bars. I think Ted has even more reason to be cautious about leaving home naked than most of us do, and don't blame him a bit if he wants to tuck a .45 in his loin cloth.

Some common sense there.

Seen Nugent twelve times, have seen and met B.B. King and actually held one iteration of Lucille. I think you and I could get along a-okay.

I'm with panzermk2. I've liked Ted since the 70s, like him now, would vote for him every time.

"The Spirit of the Wild, running free"

Ted is the man. I'm currently reading "God, Guns, and Rock n' Roll". :)

The only thing that get better for me is to hunt with Ted.
I have looked at his giuded hunts so I'm saving.
I wouldlove to have my daughter attend his camp for kids to.
Funny thing is that would be the only place I would feel her to be safe out of my sight

Last I knew it was a 10mm Glock 22 that he was using or a carry gun. Apparently, he doesn't mess around. :)

Oh no! The Nuge carries a gun with no soul! Say it ain't so! The Nuge must carry a 1911 like The Good Lord and John Moses Browning intended.

(For the record I think anthropomorphizing objects in this manner is, well, which one of those little emoticons indicates "mental"?)

Been listening to Nugent since the Amboy Dukes. I'm not much into hero worship but I do admire him for the way he excercises freedom. He displays an understanding that freedom is kinetic. Potential freedom means nothing, people in prison have that.
