Number of rounds through a gun...

I keep an excel file on all(pistols..)round count, misfires, or any notable problems or surprises.

If i buy the gun new, i know every round fired if i bought the gun new. When i buy a gun "Used" gun i will take the word of the owner and if they say something like 500-800rds fired i'll always go with the higher estimate since most people i assume don't count and try and make a gun sound newer than it really is.
I do the EXACT same thing on my pistols only.

I have an Excel spreadsheet that I update each time I get back from the range that includes how many rounds I shot and in what gun. I also keep track of most recent field clean, full clean, serial numbers, date purchased, where from, price, accessories including scopes, mounts, etc.

I have a spreadsheet that details all the ammo I have, and have shot, so I imagine I probably know how much ammo has been shot through each of my firearms within a few rounds.

I couldn't hardly keep records if I wanted to, or at least it would be a distasteful chore.

Let's see, in just the last few days I shot 5-7 different loads through a Bushmaster AR on two days. Shot handfulls of 22LR through a Beretta 70S and Ruger Bearcat several different days. Shot handfulls of two different loads through a 38 S&W J Frame several different days. Yesterday, ran 10-11 magazines, same reloads, through a American Tactical C92.

I'd hate to try and keep track of how much of this stuff goes through which guns.:D

I haven't a clue and don't really care. The majority of my guns I buy used anyway.

What's important is the condition that my guns are in right now.

I know how much ammo I took to the range, and how much I brought back. When I get home I add the difference to the round count for the gun in question in a spreadsheet, so I know the exact round count on all my new guns.

For used guns I just take the word of the seller on their best estimate and go from there, with a note that the total is an estimate.

I'm not a big .22 shooter, but probably wouldn't bother tracking those if I was.
